Writing early in this because next 3 days are going to be crazy busy, I am walking trails 3-4 miles in the morning Friday before it all starts..traveling to Bay Area. Saturday we are hiking at Muir Woods. Sunday I am doing a lot of traveling and going back to napa house so day off. Monday I start home.
17 yr old grand son....my oldest daughter got pregnant at 17 (a lot I could say but you all can figure it wasn't easy on anyone) He's a great kid though and although your not suppose to play favorites out of my 4 grand kids he is it.
So she made me gramma at 40.
You all have a great weekend!0 -
Today's workout was one of their 1000 calorie workouts (this one: http://www.fitnessblender.com/v/workout-detail/1000-Calorie-Workout-Video-Fitness-Blender-s-84-Minute-HIIT-Cardio-Strength-Abs/ee/) Doubt that I've actually burned 1000 calories since I suppose I'm to short and small and also probably not fit enough to push myself that hard. I push as hard as I can though, and always follow their advice on feeling like you're about to die at the end  Just to be on the safe side, I always assume the lowest calorie burn they estimate.
Usually I just have a coffee in the morning before my workout and breakfast afterwards since that seems to work best for me. However, when it's something brutal like today, I add in a glass of orange juice for energy. Will post again in the evening if I've stayed within my calories - yesterday I finally did go over since I couldn't resist the ice cream in the freezer...
Sherry, do you have a barbell and plates at home?
Laura, when's your half marathon?
Marla, hello, and sounds like you're having a wonderful holiday!0 -
Wow Laura, what did he have you doing for abs & legs that you had that kindof burn?! About the kitten, luckily her claws are still tiny and the front are trimmed. I'm more afraid of the ball just spontaneously popping, because I'm weird and worry about things like that, also worry about chairs breaking when I sit down, etc.
Marla, sounds like your grandson was an unexpected blessing. I know some of my schoolmates became grandparents that young...and I was still nursing my daughter at 40! To be honest, I'd still love to have another baby, but my husband is too much of a worrywart about another one.
Ines, that is my absolute favorite workout! It is tough, but I love the layout of it. I haven't done it in ages, but I really like it. It also takes a major chunk of time. Yes, I have a small standard(non-Olympic) barbell & dumbbell & plates set. Not alot of weights and no bench (sold it when I joined the gym, so I have to use the exercise ball instead--luckily I'm not benching much weight, so I think it'll be okay and not pop). We have a couple other dumbbells too.
Back & forth to/from tutor 2x today, carrying lil girl most of it, plus some shopping/carrying groceries home. Calories are looking good so far today. With DH gone, I'm not even going to try to get son to his taekwon-do classes at night, and will instead TRY to ease the kids into an earlier bedtime so I can workout at night, but being the first night, don't know how well it will go over.0 -
Sherry that was my run before work, plus the elliptical at the gym, plus my abs/legs workout.
Ines my half marathon is June 21 - 5 weeks from tomorrow! I'm pretty much just ready to get it over with. Sounds like you had an awesome workout today!
Marla how much longer are you staying in California?
It's my rest day today. Letting my body recover before tackling my long run tomorrow.
Happy Friday everyone!0 -
Kids early bedtime went so-so (they were in bed, but not asleep early), but hopefully will improve in the coming days. Ended up doing a few (very) lightweight, highrep barbell exercises: squats, bent over rows, bench press, overhead press, clean&pushpress. I need to do better but can't get my head organized about what to do and in which order, to minimize clanging of the weights while the kids are sleeping. Anyway, calories are still good today and am just waiting to hear from DH, who should've arrived by now.
Have a good one!0 -
Hi again, ended up with extra hour in library.
Ines....hello back! Some of this is fun but mostly very stressful daughter going through divorce, I need to go home to sleep and be drama free!
Laura after weekend alone with daughter Julie I am staying by myself at my cousins house in napa I have key to on Sunday then driving straight up freeway 5 to WA state where I live. Stopping in Ashland OR Monday and Hood River OR Tuesday and will be home Wednesday afternoon.
Staying with travel club only $15 per night alone. It's called Affordable travel. It's great you stay in someone's guest room and they feed you breakfast. Some people have really nice houses and just do it to meet people not to save $.
I already have two different couple coming to my house in the summer, a couple is $20 per night. I have swimming pool so summer is popular...0
