Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday!
I have a long run planned today, and I'm trying to get motivated to go out and get it done. We are expecting a beautiful weekend for weather, although this morning started out pretty crisp. I washed a couple of loads of laundry and for the first time this season hung them out on the clothesline to dry. As I was hanging out the second load the temp was nice for running but the wind was just a little cold, so I decided to hold off on my run until a little later in the day. Came back in the house, realized how tired I was (I woke up particularly early this morning), and napped for an hour.0 -
Happy Saturday everyone!
Weekends are my recovery days so today I went for a nice walk (about 40 min/5 km) and enjoyed the wonderful spring weather. Then I just did a short 13 minute stretching and yoga. I went a bit overboard last week and didn't really take the weekend "off" which I've been noticing in my workouts this week, especially on Monday, so I'll take the needed rest this time.
I actually changed my calorie goal today to 1400 net (my estimated BMR). It was 1300 before but I still had it in the back of my mind that I should always EAT 1400 and then somehow my mind got all messed up I think and I actually ended up eating at maintenance or above a bit too often. Now I just created my first ever protein shake for dinner (yummy!) and came in at 1560 which puts me slightly below 1400 net. I also bought a couple of yogurts as afternoon snacks for uni since not eating there has been one factor in making me too hungry and going over at dinner.
Hope your Saturday is or has been (time zones are so confusing) as sunny as mine and you're having a great day!!
Laura, how did your run go?
Oh, and btw, if I may be so curious: Do you all have kids?0 -
Hi!
Well, 1st full day of husband's trip (he arrived fine) and I was pretty lazy and let the kids do whatever they want til afternoon. Besides making breakfast & lunch, I didn't do anything. (Laura, you're reminding me of the pile of laundry I have to do!) To continue my lazy streak, I took the kids out for dinner, lol. Had to take the trash & recycling to the bins, return some dvd rentals, and do some shopping, so I just decided to get them dinner while we were out (salad for me). And of course I got them ice cream afterwards--the weather is sooo ice cream weather. I got a 0% bar. Brought the groceries home and put them away and took the kids out to play at the school playground and the churchyard. Still managed to get them home early (kids in Greece play late b/c in the Summer it becomes too hot during the day) for a little snack and relatively early bedtime. But I have to tell you, this has been the first day in a long time that I haven't had workout clothes on at all, all day. I think I'm going to forgo the workout tonight and enjoy peace & quiet. Calories are still good for the day, but I don't have much to work with, since I didn't workout, so it's possible that I'll go over, once I start nibbling (but I'm going to try to use my head). I'm really missing running. The weather is so perfect and gotta love all those calories burned & extra eating I can do.
Ines, yep I have a 9yo son (elementary school) and 3yo daughter (not in school) and am a SAHM, so they are my "work". At the moment, my husband is travelling for ~11days and I have no other childcare, so I have kid (or kids) 24/7.0 -
Ines - you were walking fast if you covered 5K in 40 minutes! It takes me nearly that long to run it. Nice recovery walk. I really believe in recovery days. I take off every Friday, and periodically I'll take a second day off during the week if I need one. I don't have any kids. I have 4 nieces (who are all sisters) between the ages of 18-31. The oldest has 2 little boys and the 2nd oldest has a daughter. We all (parents, sister & brother-in-law, nieces & their families) live within a 10 mile radius of each other so my family is really close.
Sherry that sounds like a wonderful day!
My run went pretty well. I went 12 miles. Went out to run on a paved trail where I haven't gone out past the first mile and a half, so that was kind of an adventure. Ended up crossing different roads a couple of times and detouring on one of them (my trainer drove by so now he knows I got my run in today!). The first 8 miles felt pretty good and the last 4 were exhausting, but when I got home & downloaded the data from my Garmin I saw I was running about 30 seconds a mile faster than I usually do on my long runs. There were some hills on the route too. Not any particularly steep ones, but some quite long gradual ones.0 -
Awesome work on your run, Laura! I actually checked my route on google maps after I wrote here yesterday and realised it's only about 4 km and not 5. Now that summer's slowly arriving here, I'd like to go for walks more often but I'm getting blisters from my shoes so I need new ones, which is potentially gonna be a lot of hazard since I need special shoes...
It's supernice that you live so close to all your family! I'm quite far from mine unfortunately and really miss them, especially my niece and nephews. I currently see them only about once or twice a year but hope that I can move closer to them next year.
Sherry, sounds like you definitely deserved the peace with having the kids 24/7. I don't have any of my own but whenever I have my niece and nephews alone, I'm generally exhausted at the end of the day :happy:0
