A Little Frustrated - Mini Stall

So, I've seen people posting topics about being frustrated all the time. I guess now it's my turn. I'm 2 1/2 weeks into Atkins. I lost 20lbs the first two weeks no problem, now I've hit a speed bump. I literally have stayed at the same weight for days. The only two things I can think of are these: Monday I had a big I cream with snowcone with my daughter to celebrate my two week mark, and maybe the sugar has stalled me (but for 4 days???) OR...My portions have been entirely too big. I mean they have been HUGE. Like I usually eat 1-2lbs of meat with every meal along with veggies. I didn't realize that I still had to portion control (even though I'm eating healthy) Could eating too much protein lead to a mini-stall?

Yes too much protein can lead to a mini-stall. Somehow or another I know that our bodies progress an abundance of protein as a carb. It just digests slower than regular carbs. Looking back at the atkin's diet I think its no more than 6oz with meals. Although someone else might have better info as we know I'm new at this too.0

I think you need to look at macros a bit. How much fat are you having with your meals? Yes, that sounds like too much protein. I shoot for less than 20 carbs per day, (<5% on MFP), 15-20% protein, 75-80% fat. That may be a bit high for you, but you should definitely trade off some protein for fat and see if that helps!0 -
I don't know anything about macros. Could you explain? Also, what sort of foods would you recommend that you think would help? I have lowered my portions significantly. Today I had cheese cubes for snacks and for dinner I had 4oz baked chicken and 8oz veggies.0

The sugar could stall you for four days, yes. You would be dropping out of ketosis and gaining water weight that may take a while to get rid of.

You've lost TWENTY pounds in 2 weeks. That is an insane amount! :drinker: Your body could NEVER sustain that rate of loss for any long period of time. 4 days with no loss is not a stall, or even a mini stall, you just get days (or weeks) when you don't lose. You've only been at this for 2 1/2 weeks and you've already lost more than I've lost (on Atkins) in the last 6 weeks!
Rather than getting frustrated about not losing for a few days, try not weighing yourself as often. I know how good it feels when you see a drop every time you step on the scales - I've been there myself and there's nothing better, but you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you think you're going to see a new number on the scale every time you look. And the more disheartened you get with the process, the less likely you are to keep it up in the long term. That was the mistake I made with Atkins the first time round, and the reason why I'm back here doing it all again!0 -

Thanks guys for all the support. I have started losing again steadily. I've cut down on my protein intake and introduced more fatd and have seen steady results. I just needed to relax and realize that there are going to be weeks when I dont see much loss. Took a while to completely "get" that and to stop getting so paranoid. Thanks again for all the support!0
