    Hey all!

Valmaebel, how are your injuries today? Hope you'll soon be able to go back out there.

Laura, yeah, the ones I saw were also reusable ones. I think they're actually intended for use during workouts.

Today was my first day back to working out "on my own". I did a 15 minute dance workout as warm up that was not my thing and also kept freezing which was riddiculously annoying. Then I did a 30 minute total body fitnessblender strength routine, which was their first video ever that I didn't overly like to do along since Kelli did her reps and transitioned to the next exercise much faster than me, and I couldn't pause and take more time since I had planned it so that it would just fit into my schedule. And a 15 minute yoga cool down, always nice. So I did get a workout done but will have to adjust it a bit next time. On the positive side, though, Pilates yesterday was a much better workout than I would have thought. I used to do a lot of Pilates but since I'm fitter now, I was worried it would not be challenging enough. I made sure to do everything really deliberately and contract all my muscles and now my legs are even a little bit sore today. I also noticed a huge difference in shoulder strength, which Pilates doesn't really build but requires for some exercises that were a lot easier now :)

Eating wise I'm already over my calories for today but that's ok. My boyfriend and me had a spontaneous lunch out at an Indian restaurant since we both happened to have some time and haven't been able to spend that much time together lately. Even though I never know how to log restaurant food properly, especially since the only entries for Indian I could find were all in cups (or worse, "servings"). I take it one US cup is 236.6 ml but I just cannot visualise how many cups my curry would fill, especially with the meat pieces.... Ah well, I did the best I could, which gives me roughly 1,500 kcal for lunch which I guess is very possible. Since we very rarely eat out, I'll just jump right back into it tomorrow. The only problem now is the part of my brain that keeps telling me that now it doesn't matter anyways and I might as well get ice cream

Hope you're all having a fantastic day!

Grrrr...typed up a whole post then my comp glitches and I lost it all!

To sum up: my ankle is almost back to normal. I did a trail run this morning...this time I went to a hiking area that is busier but has smoother paths and that went much better. I don't like having a lot of people around, but it was worth it to not crash and burn!

Ines- I love Pilates! I use it to keep my core strong. I love that you can modify it so it's easy or hard depending on your level. I go to a class once a week at the Y and it helps challenge me.

FromHereOnOut - are there any trails by where you are? Hiking trails or little walkways or paths? If running on roads makes you nervous that's always a possibility if they have them. Personally I feel more nervous running along the roads here in Phoenix as everyone drives like insane people and never pay attention to what they're doing. Rural areas always felt safer...but there are hazards in every area I suppose.

Have a great Memorial Day everyone!

Laura, I'll be in Md for a bit, which is fine, but then most of the time would be in Tn and the roads are very winding with no shoulders and unfortunately people drive twice the speed limit. To be honest, I'd be afraid to walk on those roads in an emergency situation, let alone running by choice. And as I said, in the "city", people aren't accustomed to there being pedestrians, but it'd be safer than the country roads. Unfortunately, it is also very hilly, but then again it is here too. When I get a chance, I'll check walkjogrun. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

Ines, nice workout. I've done Pilates vids before and have always been what seemed to be disproportionately sore to the seemingly little effort I thought I put forth. It is a very, very effective and efficient workout, I believe.

valmaebel, good to hear that you're back at it despite that accident. As for trails, there's a great one in Md where I'll be, but I don't know of any in Tn. I'll check online, and maybe find a running store and ask around for suggestions (I'll want to try to find a running store to see if I can do an analysis while I'm there anyway, since I can't do that here.) I'll probably take to the sidewalks in the "city", around the University, hospital, and medical offices, etc.

So, dh will be on his way home soon. I didn't do much today. Laundry and some odds & ends. T.o.m. aaaagain (grrr, I can't stand how close together it's getting at this age--nature is cruel), and I have had a major case of the blahs. Son worked on homework at home, which is always like a battle at the coliseum between him and me (he'd rather argue about it than just do it). I am sooo ready for dh to get home, and to get back my M-F daily 2hrs of freedom!

Ines I've been doing Pilates for the past year & a half and I've come to the conclusion that it's one of those workouts that grows with you. We have an instructor come into our office so she keeps making it harder to account for the fact that we've all gotten fitter. I tell you what - thanks to Pilates I have really strong abs. I hate when people enter things into the database as a "serving" without any indication how much a serving is. It could be half a cup or three cups (I'm in the US, so I think in cups - and my food scale only does pounds/ounces and grams so I don't have any concept of ml at all).

Valmaebel, glad you're starting to heal from your fall!

Sherry great thread starter today! So true. My trainer sent me on a run one day - it was hilly and winding and because we had so much snow there weren't currently any shoulders. I had to run in the driving lane and the snowbanks were literally 3 or 4 feet high (a meter or slightly higher) in places - there was no way I was going to be able to get up on one if I needed to get out of the way. In places even one of the lanes was partially covered in snow. Fortunately people weren't driving too fast (the road winds through a state park) but still I was actually scared in places, plus I was really embarrassed when 2 cars had to come to a complete stop because there wasn't room for the 2 of them plus me on the road, so I understand completely why you wouldn't want to run in conditions like that.

I knew it was going to be warm again today so I got my run in early. There's a laundromat near my gym so I drove there, put my summer comforter and a smaller quilt in the wash, ran 4 miles (6.4K), retrieved my now-clean quilts, popped into the gym to do some ankle/shoulder bank exercises & get in a good stretch and some time on the foam roller, then came home and hung the quilts on the clothesline. It was running by 6:05 and it was already 64 degrees (18C) and a little humid. It's starting to get cloudy & it's raining just south of here, so I should go pull them in the house. Love sleeping in fresh bedding!
