Morning eveyone!
I guess I never checked in yesterday, I was away all day I guess, til around 8pm and then I just sat in my lazyboy and watched tv the rest of the evening. My son is done his school year, so will be moving home this week. I went to his apartment to clean things up a bit (go through the fridge) and bring a few things home. He is 2 hours away so it was an all day event. Plus....I did a little shopping too! lol So now I will have both boys home til september. They will both be working though, so will be busy. So yesterday was a day off from exercise, except for some floor exercises I did while watching tv (so I guess i did get out of the lazy boy!! lol)
I will check in later with a report on todays exercise. Probably a run, but possibly a HIIT video. haven't done one in awhile, but I do want to up my mileage so probably a run.
Val - I don't think I welcomed you. SO...WELCOME!! I read that you were into triathlons and stuff...my hubby is as well. He has done many including a Full Ironman. I have done triathlons as a team either running or biking but never alone. Good for you! I have done 2 half-marathons as well and lots of 10K races. I do find this group helpful, its nice to come and read about everyones day, very motivating.
Laura - sounds like you were very productive yesterday getting in your run while clothes were at the laundromat! 18C at 6am...yup its going to be a warm day. lol I agree too, nothing like fresh bedding thats been on the line.
Sherry - I am sure you are looking very forwrad to your dh getting back and getting back into your routine.
Ines - it is hard to log restaurant calories, I agree. I guess you just have to do your best judgement and then get on with your day....and say no to the ice cream! lol I know exactly what you mean - that has always been my problem. If I over eat or have something I shouldnt'....I would always think "well i ruined this day, might as well just have something more and start again tomorrow". I have gotten over doing that in the past while. Thankfully!0 -
Hello everyone!
After a 3 day weekend (Monday was a holiday here) I'm back to work and completely exhausted. Went to bed at 10:00 last night & slept until 6:45 this morning but I feel like I was up all night. Not sure why I'm so tired, but it promises to be a very long day. Have a sinus headache, too, and feel like I'm in a fog.
Pilates tonight after work.0 -
Laura, I hope that your day goes quickly and you get get a good night sleep tonight. Nothing worse than not getting your rest. The night before last I woke up when dh got up to go fishing (3:45) and barely went back to sleep. *YAWN* But...last night I made up for it, slept like a baby.
Very happy to report that I managed to run 10K this morning. I was hoping that I would feel up to 8K....and as I got closer to the 8K mark, my legs were still not feeling bad so I kept going. I have been wanting to get my mileage up and I feel like I am finally starting to see progress. It didn't kill me to do this run, I wasn't dragging myself to finish. I feel like i haven't stretched enough though, I will do some more in a bit.0 -
Hi all, I didn't write yesterday either, got sidetracked paying the bills and budget and needed a good hike after that to take away the stress! ouch after vacation and well pump expense ($2500)
I have been doing good on regular food since I got back but can't seem to stop myself from sweets after and wine...I am hoping I can curb that...
I am off to Nia class in a few min then shopping next town over that has Costco.
Ines, after many weeks eating in restaurant, I finally found it can be done but with the right mind set. I either had one small piece of bread or none. If I ordered pasta I shared with daughter and even then we each took small portion. I tried to order meat or fish and salad. And didn't get dessert most of the time, if I did I exercised longer! Oh and at breakfast I would ask for fruit instead of potatoes.0 -
Well I'm back after a tiring, fun, and not so fun, vacation. According to my scale, I've gained 4 lbs since I left on May 15th. We'll see how much of that is real as I go back to my regular routine.
For most of the time I was in the Purina Farms complex near St Louis, Missouri. I managed to get in some sort of run for about half the days I was there. It was a very hilly place with a lot of steep ups and down. I also had a really nice long hike (3-4 hours) with the dogs last Saturday; which I did rather than go to the dog activity I was supposed to go to.
I ate quite well for the first third (my own food on the drive up to St Louis and in the RV while there, or dinner with my friends next door in their RV with shared food), basically okay for the second third (had to get lunch at the complex and dinners were the three banquets), and not very good for the third third (in the car going back to NJ after depleting all my food and then in NJ itself). I think that I'm just going to forget that last week occured, as far as my diet and exercise, and start today anew.
According to my schedule I'm supposed to run to my trainer workout today and back. It's also supposed to be 85+F this evening. If it's that warm, then I'll drive back and forth to the trainers and then run afterward (2.5 - 3.5 miles) after the sun sets, but before it's completely dark. I also could just go to bed early and get up early tomorrow morning and run.
The vacation went pretty well. Colin did well in everything he was entered in (agility, obedience, earthdog, rally obedience, barnhunt) and even won his class in conformation (Veteran Dogs 10-13 years). Fells too did well, although less was asked of him. We had fun and I even ran a sqeakerectomy contest where the entered dogs had 5 minutes to remove the squeaker from inside of a stuffed toy. The ones that entered did quite well with it.
A pall was placed over the whole event though when we found out that one of the exhibitors (and friend) lost 12 of her dogs when her RV caught fire as she pulled into her driveway in Arizona on her return from the specialty.0 -
I went way over my calories yesterday so I restricted my net calories for the rest of the week to balance it out. Today it worked fairly well but left me really hungry in the afternoon. Will have to plan better for tomorrow. I'm actually not sure now why I ever stopped doing Pilates since I've always loved it, I think I just got bored
I don't have access to actual classes here so I tend to always do the same programme but I might look up some alternatives online to mix it up. Any recommendations, preferably videos to do along?
We hardly ever eat out so I guess I can afford to go over my calories when we do. I suck at estimating amounts (which is why I weigh everything and prefer to cook myself). When we did eat out during the last couple of months, it was almost always to the same Indian restaurant and the problem there is that Indian food is prepared with so much oil...
Maureen, yeah, that mindset has ruined attempts to lose weight so often for me ^^ Nowadays, I've also gotten a lot better with it but I've realised that for me, it's easier to have a "going over" meal at the end of the day. Then I can plan the rest of the day well and don't risk this trap even though if we go to an Indian restaurant, just that one meal will put me over my calories no matter what I eat during the rest of the day pretty much. But if lunch goes over, it's much easier to then go even more over at dinner. Great job on running 10K btw!
Laura, take it slow today and hopefully you'll have a good rest tonight!
Marla, I admire your strength for choosing at a restaurantI order what I want usually irrespective of calories (though I almost never have dessert). But like I said, I eat out so rarely that it's always a huge treat. What's Nia?
Sherry, DH (btw, do I guess correctly that DH stands for your husband?) should be back today, right? So hope you'll get some more me- and workout-time again0 -
Hell all.
dh got back today, a bit delayed. lack of sleep has really caught up with me, and then some--splitting headache all day. i tried to run anyway and had probably the worst run yet. 30 minutes in the hot afternoon sun. head is still splitting and so I'm off to bed. i'll read everyone tomorrow.0 -
"Hell all" seems appropriate considering how exhausted you are, Sherry.
I got out for a walk with a friend at lunch. It's cool & windy so t was a little bit cold but the fresh air helped wake me up. My sinuses still hurt but I feel less foggy anyway. Looking forward to Pilates class tonight. We always have fun and this is going to be a really small class so I'm sure we'll be extra goofy.
Maureen congrats on your 10K run!
Welcome back, Donna. That's so horrible about the dogs. Must have been a really fast fire if she couldn't get any of them out? Those poor, poor dogs.0
