Weekend 5/16 - 5/18

I was very good with food all weekend and went out dancing on Saturday, which burned extra calories.

But the big news is that I made it 30 minutes on the elliptical both Saturday and Sunday. I used to knock out 30 minutes on the elliptical with no problem, but it's been pure drudgery the last few weeks and I've mostly been doing just 10-20 minutes. I couldn't tell if the issue was physical (doing lots of squats, sometimes with high weights) or mental (just burned out after doing this for so damned long). It turns out the issue was all mental. I found that I could play online bridge on my phone while on the elliptical and had no issue with doing 30 minutes. I even did a few extra minutes on Saturday because I was in the middle of a hand and didn't want to get distracted by getting off the machine.

I'm sure it sounds crazy to some people, but being able to get back to doing a full cardio workout is a big deal for me. I wasn't looking forward to cutting any calories to compensate for less total activity.

    Awesome and inspiring.
The treadmill and elliptical can get boring after awhile. Looking at the display thinking is it over yet. :)

Getting a handle on cardio is a big deal.

I totally get it. I prefer using the elliptical at night when there is something to watch on its TV, otherwise it gets pretty boring. The treadmill is far worse, I find I can't watch TV while running--too bouncy. Also, upbeat music helps me run. Houston summer heat forces many inside for workouts, its the price we pay for mild winters. Oh the things we must endure to get fit.

Great job!!! I can completely relate! I have to be distracted while doing any cardio machine or the time drags!
