Rest/Pause method?

I was looking at the template for weeks 9-12 (workout A of the advanced program) and I don't have the book with me right now since I'm at work. Can someone explain the rest/pause method?

It says 3 sets of 6 reps, 1 rep, 1 rep, 1 rep... Does it mean I do 6 'regular speed' & without resting between reps and then the rest/pause method for the last 3 reps? Also, is it raise the barbell 1 count, up 1 count, lower 1 count? And then I keep it on the ground for 4-5 seconds?

I'm not sure I understand it correctly.

    Can't wait to start Phase 3 next week :)

    Not sure I'll be able to do this with the 145 pounds I'm currently using... But hopefully I will be :)
