protein shakes & breastfeeding?

Hi, just wondered if anyone knew if it's ok to take protein suppliments (e.g. shakes) whilst breastfeeding? As I know it's not suitable in pregnancy and wasn't sure if that followed on with breastfeeding like caffeine intake etc?

If it's just a shake with added protein then I don't see the problem. If it has high amounts of caffeine or any weight loss herbs, I would definitely avoid it.

I didn't know some people considered protein shakes a no-no during pregnancy until recently. I use EAS chocolate whey protein powder (and I'm currently pregnant). Its only whey protein (which is the watery stuff left behind from yogurt) and amino acids. I'm not worried about it. :) I used while breastfeeding my daughter, too, and we were both fine! I guess just read the packaging and look for something as pure as possible, as I've heard some brands are full of sugar or add other things.

^^^This...I used Dymatize Iso-100 (gourmet chocolate) during pregnancy. I plan to use it while breastfeeding. It doesn't have any ingredients/adulterants I'm particularly concerned about.

I use an organic hemp protein with no additives.
I have done my research on this one and know it is safe during pregnancy and breast feeding. It is the product I was using prepregnancy and only looked it up as I wanted to see if I could keep using it....and this is about the extent of my knowledge on the subject.
