Didn't make it on to post yesterday, I meant to....put it off....and then it didn't happen. Happy to see that the scales are down 1.5 lb this week. Its finally happening. Ran 6K yesterday, sort of undecided whether to run today or do a HIIT workout. Sort of feel like the HIIT workout but...hmmmm....

Ines - sorry that your knees and foot are starting to bother you. Hopefully some time off with help them to get better and you can do your pilates in the meantime. I have a pilates CD here somewhere that I haven't done in a long time. I really should get it out and give it a go. I'm going to check out the youtube video too.

Donna - sounds like you have a great exercise plan for the coming days. Hope todays run goes well and good luck with the virtual half-marathon on Sunday!

Laura - congrats on your loss! Wtg! Hope you can get your Saturday morning run in, its nice to run in different places and the paved trail sounds awesome

Sherry - so glad things are looking up for you and you got a nice run in. Whevever I have a body-issue with running it involves me achilles/calf. usually a couple of times a year. Very annoying!

Marla - so sorry about the pinched nerve, very painful! I hope it clears up quickly so you can get everything done

Funnily enough I now have sore muscles from the one exercise that I could finish without taking a break during that additional pilates video yesterday. I kinda miss doing HIIT....I miss the cardiovascular challenge and also the additional calories :D I really enjoy pilates and strength training but I don't think I'd ever want to do no cardio/HIIT, I just love how it makes me feel. I also think that it helps me to control my appetite.

Donne, great that your knee problems are getting better due to running and losing weight! I've had a similar thing with my ankle, which hasn't given me problems in a really long time now. First time in my life that I'm having issues with my kneew though :/ I think I'd opt for the third option for the half-marathon since it would probably disturb my "flow" to go back home in the middle. Maybe do intervals like Laura suggested.

Marla, sorry about your pinched nerve, that sounds painful. I usually tend to push through pain if exercise doesn't make it worse. However, I recently read that our bodies are actually designed to "cover up" pain during exercise so that, basically, we can still run away from bears if hurt. Apparently, both sensations are lead by the same nerves if I remember correctly, so the exercise will cover up the pain until it gets too much I suppose. This made me think that I had to be a bit more careful which is why I'm now also taking a break since my ankle and knees seemed to have been getting less painful when I exercised but have in general been hurting on and off for a while now. I still find it hard to distinguish between discomfort and actual pain though. So I'd say give it a break and I hope it'll get better soon!

Sherry, great that you got a run in! I bet the guy felt really guilty :D I found that the difficulty in the workouts Cassey puts on her beginner's plan is rather inconsistent, for me at least. The first one was tough, the second one medium, the third one super easy, and the fourth one today medium again. I signed up for her newsletter now so I can get the monthly plans she makes and might switch to the one for June next week. Since I was able to do the one that I randomly picked yesterday (albeit with short breaks), where she said it's a tough one, I'm thinking it might be better to switch. They also include HIIT once a week as far as I can tell so I'll have to replace that or maybe just do low-impact versions of the exercises. And she's definitely very.....bubbly :D Talks a lot but not so annoyingly like other trainers I've seen videos off.

Laura, for me it really depends. I did Capoeira for a while but had to give that up when I moved and that really sucked because I loved the classes. It always depends on the teacher and also the type of exercise. Capoeira you cannot do on your own or without a teacher. With Pilates and Yoga, I like doing videos but that might also be because in the only course I ever took, I didn't think the teacher was very good. Then again, I also did a Zumba class for a while, and could also not even imagine doing that in front of a video even though that would in principle be possible but to me it seems just much less fun. Enjoy your niece's wedding and hope you'll be able to get your run in!

Maureen, congrats on the weight loss! Which workout did you finally decide on? Let me know how it goes if you try out that ultimate hot body video I posted.

Hey all! My hubby has Tuesdays through Thursdays off...and for our "weekend" we decided to go camping! It was great to get out of town and just hang out as a family and we had a blast! As a result I only have briefly skimmed the previous posts but I won't respond to posts until later...too many for my tired brain to keep track of! :).
My ankle has healed from my fall but my knee and palm are still messed up. thankfully they are getting better...just more slowly then I would like. Also, a hangnail on my big toe got ripped off and caused an infection in my cuticle. So all to makes getting my workouts in a frustrating endeavor. I did get my run in this morning. I also biked yesterday but had to use an indoor bike instead of road biking. I'm still hoping to get a nice swim in tonight.

I usually find the funny quotes to inspire myself. I saw this one the other day:

(hope that turns up since I've never posted a photo before!)

    Have a great day everyone!

    Hey everybody and tgif!

Donna, the virtual hm sounds cool. I have a 13m course plotted on walkjogrun.net that I've never endeavored yet, but will soon. The problem is highway crossings etc that interfere with a true result, but if I ever do it, I'd just be proud to have done it, no matter how long it might takes. Good luck!

Marla, sorry to hear about you shoulder. Take it easy. Better safe than sorry. My dad had to have shoulder surgery this year and he's still down with it (6 mos!).

Maureen, congrats on the loss! Hope it keeps going in that direction for you.

Ines, hope you can find the balance you want between hiit and pilates/isometrics. I think hiit does some stuff in our bodies with regard to hormones, etc (just like running releases happy hormones), so that might be what you're missing?

valmaebel, hope you continue to get all your bumps and scrapes healed so everything will be more comfortable for you. But you got your workout! Bravo! Also, great triathlete quote! Perfect!

Today i did a bunch of walking and ran down to the beach from son's tutor, enjoyed watching the kite surfers (windy, perfect day for it), and then ran back. Also took my son for a walk this evening. My recent drama is over. I had gotten a new fitness tracker (dh brought from US) and it was a complete bust--didn't work and I was MORE than a little upset about it. Managed to get it exchanged and used it for half the day today and am shocked at how many steps i racked up (over 24k steps from ~1pm+)! I think I'm going to like having this thing. :)

Oh yeah, my form adjustment seems to be helping with the achilles. Feels much better after today's run than after previous recent runs.

    Have a good one all!

Glad you got the run in today, Sherry, and all the walking!

Enjoy the wedding, Laura, and hope tomorrow's run is fun.

Got a 45 minute run in today with quite a bit of walking before and after. Staying with my plan. :)

Been taking it easy all day, still hurts. I have a pool and thankfully got it open early because of company last weekend.

So I floated in pool and did some easy strokes. It was more of a therapy pool and I plan on doing that until better.

Did easy flat river walk yesterday.

I am still using cold packs, heating pad, long showers, Tylenol once during day and one 5 mg Valium at night to relax muscles and help me sleep.

It was feeling better but I got tempted into an hour on computer last night. I have to stay off bending over like that until better. I am on ipad now and have to just use that. It's hard, I just got home and have so much to do!!
