Hey everyone!
Donna and Laura, sounds like you both had a great time! And Donna, good luck for your half marathon today!
Like I said, I switched from Cassey's beginner calender to the regular one for June today. She combines a couple of her own videos to make it into a full hour roughly and it's not just traditional Pilates. But I replaced almost all of the jumping with lower impact versions of the movements and my ankles and knees seem to be doing fine. I honestly deeply admire anyone who can do the full routine without taking a break. My boyfriend made so much fun of me panting and swearing   But I love it!! All my muscles were shaking and it still seems to be low impact enough for my ankles and knees. Now I'll go for a walk to the supermarket since my boyfriend took my bike...
Have a great Sunday!0 -
Ines, I'm glad you've found a workout that you can modify so you're not getting hurt, but you're still getting a killer workout. Best of both worlds!
Donna, good luck today!
I had been planning on taking a rest day today but now I'm changing my mind. I almost always take Friday as a rest day but the past two weeks and this upcoming week I'm seeing my trainer on Friday because my schedule has been messed up. Today would be day 11 without a rest day, which is why I was planning on taking the day off, but Wednesday is going to end up being a rest day anyway so I might as well wait until then. I've had a couple of lighter workout days in that stretch - last Sunday I was tired from my long run the day before so I just rode the bike at the gym for 30 minutes, and Tuesday I went for a walk & did Pilates - so it's not like I've been killing myself every day. My trainer wants me to do these hip exercises twice a week while I'm in the final weeks of training for my half marathon so I should go to the gym & do those anyway. Might as well get on some equipment while I'm there.0 -
Good Morning
Its June! Wow. It sure feels like summer waking up this morning. My hubby is a lobster fisherman and the last day of their season was yesterday. All the traps and rope etc are home safe and sound. So...for me this is summer, he will have some time off now and might get some things done around the house. We're thinknig of clearing a little patch of our land that was never cleared, and putting more yard there.
Got a good chunk of gardening done yesterday, I have made it almost all the way through my flower bed. Once thats done it will be time to mulch. I was really slack with it last year so its making me feel very happy to see it look good! lol
Yesterday I did a Turbofire HIIT workout. My legs were really feeling spent the first 5 minutes and I almost stopped but plugged along til the end and actually felt better as it went. But, today I am contemplating a rest day. I could get the rest of my gardening done, clean out the trailer or go and get groceries. Hmmmm0 -
Donna - lots of luck today in your HM!!
Ines - glad that you are able to switch things up with your workout to make them more do-able for your knees/ankles. theres nothing like getting a good sweat on!
Laura - you are like me, trying to decide whether or not to take a rest day. Lol I guess if I get out in my flower bed that could be counted as exercise in a way. Not so much cardio, but I'm sure I'd be burning a few calories. I moved a hosta yesterday and that was no easy feat!
sherry - glad that you were able to get in a workout yesterday, we have yet to see that kind of heat here yet this year.0 -
Hey all!
Donna - Good luck on your HM! I hope you have a blast!
Ines- glad you are finding workouts that work for you! It is such a good feeling when that happens!
Yesterday I had my Pilates class and then hopped on an indoor bike afterward and did some intensive muscular endurance workouts for a little over an hour.
I was supposed to run this morning, but my toe is finally almost better so I decided to give it another day off from running and hopefully it will be back to normal. Last time I pushed it when it seemed to be better and it got inflected. Not taking any chances this time!
Hubby starts his classes up again this week so I'll be needing to do everything on my own again.. But at least now my oldest is done with school so no need to drop kids off or pick them up....or do homework. Not looking forward to the heat but I am enjoying the break!
Have a great day everyone!0 -
Ok so don't know if any of you have heard of or believe in the mind body thing TMS but I have healed my back problems in the past using the methods of Dr Sarno's books. I didn't catch this last bout because the whole purpose of the mind body thing is you have painful emotions you don't want to deal with so your body creates pain so that is all you think about.
Last night I realized the day I got the pain I was doing bills, feeling overwhelmed by that and some other issues.
So today I listened to Dr Sarno's tapes again and almost like magic the pain is going away...I know it sounds weird, if I haven't had it happen before I would think I was nuts myself!!!
There is true pain you shouldn't push past, but there also is this, and knowing the difference can be the answer to a lot of pain!
Been doing swimming and exercises in pool last few days....0 -
Hi all. It's late and I'm wiped out, so I'm just doing a quick check-in. Today I ran from home down to the beach, stretched rested, started to walk back and then started running again, til I got to the neighborhood where I got a water and ordered pizza for dinner. Tonight the family went for a walk and let the kids play with friends and had ice cream/sorbet.
Have a good rest-of-the-day!0 -
Sounds like everybody is having a great day!
I stopped at the gym on my way to the grocery store early this afternoon just to do my ankle band homework, then at 5:00 I went out for a 4 mile walk. It rained all morning but finally dried up this afternoon. It wasn't super warm but it was humid. Alternating sun & clouds. At one point I was a little nervous it was going to rain again (forecast was for scattered thunderstorms) but it stayed dry.0 -
I did option 3 for the half marathon and went out on my own to do it as one out and back. It was not easy and I wish that I had worked up to it more, but in really went pretty well in general. Glad that it's done!
Maureli, hope you enjoyed the gardening. I'm sure that you will love it when the flowers bloom!
Valmabel, hope that you enjoyed your "rest day", although I know that with three young children, rest days aren't usually restful days.
Glad that you're feeling better, Marla!
Sherry, sounds like a beautiful Sunday! Run, family walk, and ice cream!
Laura, sounds like you had a nice "rest day" too, with a gym workout and a walk.0
