I'm new, too!

I'm *almost* 60 (in 3 months), so I hope that's okay! Just re-signed-up yesterday after having been a member in the past. I'm a bit humbler this time and determined to get this weight off. My daughter just got married a couple weeks ago, and I thought that was the one thing that would inspire me to lose weight-- but I didn't manage to do it-- which makes me realize that food has way too much power in my life! Plus, I've had a few health scares and I'm tired of not having any energy.

Is there anyone in the group with a lot to lose? I need to lose 150 pounds. Yep. A lot. Would welcome any friends in a similar boat! (Or for that matter, friends in any boat!)

Welcome, Welcome :flowerforyou: we love 'younger' members, it keeps us 'oldies' young! So very glad you found us as we all battle our weight and self image! I have about 50 to 60 pounds to lose and yes when we look at our totals it can be overwhelming but I am going for developing better habits and choices and with the great and positive support in our lovely Group, it is working for me. Concentrating on the pounds was something I did in the past, and guess what it didn't work because I am at the highest weight I have ever been! No worries, things are looking up or should I say down! Well done for reaching out and joining us, looking forward to getting to know you better and supporting each other! Cheers, Marian

Hi Younger! I started this battle (again) with 108 pounds to lose. With MFP & this group's help, I now have 'only' 71 pounds to go :grumble:

May I suggest setting up some mini-goals? You don't have to make them public if you wish, but having some mini-goals seems to make the total a bit less of a mountain to climb. I have a number of short term goals (almost to my 40 pound lost one) and make sure I have the next ones set up ready to go as I knock one out. Also - take a picture when you start, even if you don't share it. I'm having my hubby take one every 20 pounds. Look at it this way - you'll want the photos when YOU get to post your 'success story'!! :drinker:

Welcome to the group - you will be encouraged every step of the way!

Welcome! I started with 100 pounds to lose. I began in mid-January. I'm down 40-some pounds and the inches have been coming off!

We are all over the place with our weight-loss journeys. Some have more to lose, some are on maintenance. We can all help each other!

This is the place if you seriously want to lose. Just commit to be honest with your logging. Never, ever be too embarassed to be truthful (heck, I went out one night at 10 p.m., got a pizza and ate half of it, after my eating day was done. But I fessed up!)

Almost all of us try to get in some exercise, too. Don't believe the people who say they don't, because they do! You will find what is right for you!

Looking forward to your posts. Join the June challenge. You pick your own goal, but it keeps it interesting!

I am new to this program and was so pleasantly surprised to see, "I am not alone". I have 100 pounds to lose and have decided all I can do it take this one pound at a time. I joined in February but did nothing with it. A friend got me re-acquainted with MFP and I am thrilled she did. Reading all of your comments, success stores and feeling the encouragment gives me hope.

Welcome. Hope you enjoy it here as much as I do. I haven't been with the group long, but have made some great friends.

MFP is definitely a great weight loss tool. Just make sure to log every bite in your diary and keep in touch for encouragement and support. It really helps if you share you diary, too. I feel accountable since I share.

Thanks so much for the welcome! :flowerforyou: I am only into day 2 but I found logging every bite to be very interseting. I was surprise to find products that I thought were "safe" actually had quite a bit of sugar in them. There is so much to learn! Even at my age I am learing new things every day.

Welcome Angel. I'm a newbie also and this is the group to stick with. There really is a lot to absorb for healthy weight loss but do not get overwhelmed. It is very achievable, you will be amazed that logging your food intake daily will help you tremendously to make the right choices.
