Don't you just love the first week's weight loss?

The first week of dieting, no matter what diet you are on, sucks. For me it does anyway. Cutting out the carbs, the sugar, most of the caffeine (I still have my morning java and my afternoon cuppa) ...... All of that leads to a headache and bathroom problems and mood swings and withdrawals. Blech. That is why it is so nice that during those first two weeks, when the going is really tough, you lose so much weight! Yeah, yeah, I know. It is water weight and your body adjusting, etc. It still feels really good at a time when you are feeling really bad. I have lost 12 pounds this first week I know that is a one time thing, but that's okay. The headache is going away, my tummy (and my mood) seem to have adjusted, and I am feeling better. Bring on the couple pounds a week!

Unfortunately, I never really experienced that. I did my own made up diet and then when the SB book came out, I tweaked it toward SB (since it made sense to me and what I was doing).
I did do phase 1 in january as a "reboot". I lost 2LBS.
I think it only happens if you have more to lose, which, (THANK GOD) I don't.
Congrats on the loss! FABULOUS!
Don't forget to eat some beans if you feel icky. The potassium/magnesium in them can make all the difference in the world while adjusting to things.
Best of luck on the couple of pounds a week to come! You got this.0 -
Agree! I think those truly prediabetic and those that ate a lot of carbs see bigger numbers perhaps. I'm down 7 lbs and only on day 3....excited to see how much by the end I know it will get slower but I am getting so much junk out of my body. Good motivator0

From Feb to May of this year I lost 25 pounds. The basics of my eating plan is South Beach. I took a break for about 4 to 6 weeks recently. I only gained back 5 pounds. I went to the doctor on 07/12/2014. He was so encouraging that I got back on track. This past week I went from 223.8 to 219.9. I am so happy to be almost back to where I left off at in May. We can all make it happen. Just have a good support system and make eating healthy a way of life and not a diet.. I'm doing phase one for now, however I do have a high carb/fat snack once a day. Like mini donuts for 200 calories at the end of my day. I know every one is different, however this works for me. ) The small snack satisfies me and I don't go back for me..... I really am happy with SB. Have a good day everyone!!0
