I've got a renewed interest in this! Anyone with any experience with these? Especially the iPool?

I used one once at an old gym I used to belong to and it was pretty useless as far as I was concerned. Even at the highest setting and even when I tried to swim slowly, I kept bumping into the wall. Maybe they've improved since then and maybe they're great for beginning swimmers. I was not particularly fit at the time, but I did have a half-way decent stroke.

I've never used one, but I think my issue would be trying to keep track of yardage since that's what my workouts are based on. It's probably pretty good if your workouts are time based & you can set it at a speed you can swim at. I also would bet it would be a better choice than a regular pool for indoor training for open water swims, since you can swim without touching a wall, making a turn, etc......

Robertus with the endless pools the tech seems to have improved and the high performance ones can now push at speeds of 55 seconds per 100 m which is extremely fast. Faster than I am likely to ever swim. But to be honest they are just extremely expensive even just for the unit without the pool, you're looking at $7,000 +

The iPool is pretty cheap, but that tethering harness bit I'm not so sure about. Even if I had it it wouldn't be the sole swim workout, but would help to get my weekly number of swims up, if I mix the days I can't get to a real pool with a go in the tethered one?
