Okey dokey: a chapter going through 13 stretches and all you need is a LAX(lacrosse) ball, a foam roller, a pole, and your hands. First day I did these it reminded me a little of pressure points(karate dummy for my kids) and the feeling I was very tired, but it was the tissue I was helping. Each day since, my body is responding and I'm sleeping better.
Another chapter is devoted to your gait and self diagnosis. For me, my left hip flexor is tight, and it is caused by a chain of issues. So, working backwards and finding the weak part of my body allows me to strengthen it and improve my gait, avoid chronic pain, and run faster . Stretching the hip flexor is obvious, but finding the core weakness will allow me to avoid the tightness I keep having.
I am also fascinated by the ability to re-train muscles and their neurotransmitters to improve my range of motion. Did you know there are 20 muscles in your foot? This will be my go to book for many running issues.
I also purchased Run Less Run Faster, but just cracked it.0 -
