Coconut Oils Review

Not sure if the group has ever reviewed coconut oils before but I've been experimenting with coconut oils and would love to hear your recommendations.
1) Carrington Farms 100% Organic, Extra Virgin - this oil smells and tastes like coconuts right out of the jar/box. I made some yummy fat bombs with this one and I can eat it right out of the jar.
2) Spectrum Organic, Refined - no like, tastes gross out of the jar and no coconut smell. Will be used strictly for cooking... no fat bombs with this one.
3) LouAna pure coconut oil - I bought it because it's inexpensive. No strong coconut smell or taste. Tried making fat bombs and they were awful... ended up throwing them away and will not buy this brand again.
Which ones are your favorite?

I've mostly used Nutiva in the past.
I recently bought an 8 pound pail of Kevala Organic Raw Coconut oil and it is wonderful. It's so nice not to have to order coconut oil in tiny little containers and so often. If I can order it again (Amazon.ca is somewhat unreliable with food items) I will.
I have no interest in refined coconut oil. If I don't want a coconut taste (I'm used to it now) then I will use animal fat or butter.0 -
I usually buy the Trader Joe's variety. It seems pretty good and the price is reasonable.0

Ah! I must try TJ's - love their stuff.0

I also agree with the TJ recommendation, I got my wife using it now as well. Smells wonderful but it is not organic so there is that to consider0

I use the Carrington Farms Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and it great I get it at Costco.0

I too use Carrington Farms, bought at Costco. From reviews I have read online, it is not the best but not the worst. I am very happy with it and you can't beat the price. Admittedly I have not tried others so this isn't much help I guess but why mess with something that ain't broke
I have thought about trying Tropical Traditions (when there is free shipping) because it comes in glass rather than plastic. But shipping is super expensive!0 -
I like Nutiva. Organic, extra virgin yumminess.0

I love Trader Joe's coconut oil, and yes, it is organic (at least the one sold around here is), though it's just "virgin," not "extra virgin."
I also use Simple Truth Organics coconut oil. It's the Kroger in-house brand. It's comparable to Trader Joe's coconut oil, though a little pricier (but to be fair, Trader Joe's is hands-down the least expensive coconut oil I've found; it even beats out the bulk options for price).
One thing to note -- don't compare virgin oils to refined for smell. Refined pretty much always has the scent removed, so it's kind of apples and oranges on that front.0 -
I will look at the jar closer next time, now I feel vindicated buying something on the cheap! Go TJ's0

Nutiva is my hands down fave. Its the only one I'll use in fat bombs.
I do also have a simply organic from Kroger that I use for cooking, not bad at all.0 -
I bought a 5 gallon bulk container from Wilderness Family Naturals. It is organic, raw, centerfudge extracted and it is awesome! Although my friends have joked that I'm totally ready for the porno taping  I really love coconut and use it for many things other than cooking....apparently the centerfudge extraction retains more of the MCFA's.0

I usually buy the Sprouts brand unrefined, which I like, but I just bought the Spectrum Unrefined/Virgin because it was super on sale, and that one is pretty good too. It must be a difference of refined vs unrefined, because mine definitely smells and tastes like coconut. I've been mixing it 1:2 with shredded unsweetened coconut and adding a little cocoa and some slivered almonds for a snack, which is amazing.0 -
carringtons my favourite, spectrum in my cupboard now, its ok, but not full flavored0
