Tai Chi?

Has anyone ever tried Tai Chi? I have done a few sample lessons on youtube and think I might like it in a lazy relaxed kind of way.... not to be counted as exercise for weight loss...... I could never do yoga although I tried classes more than once...just not flexible........this looks doable and similarly relaxing .......

No, I haven't, but I have always wanted to. We even have a Tai Chi "institute" in my town. It looks like it would be so good to releave strees and center you mind. I love to walk through parks and see people doing it. They seem so focused and non-self-conscious! For me, it is "Who has the time?"0

I have ordered a dvd...not the best way to do stuff I know...a class is better....I will give it a go ... floating round like a cloud....... pushing the water.......will let you know how I get on! lol:bigsmile:

Oh my yes.... and it is so very relaxing and calming... I am sure you will totally enjoy it....0

The meditation through movement side of tai chi is great - the movements are just hard enough to sustain and do well that it is all you can think about, which is extremely good for concentrating the mind. I have not done a lot, but it is beautiful and feels good. Gives strength and flexibility gently. Let us know how you like it!0

Would like to hear how you get pm with the Tai Chi DVD Jean. I've heard it's really good for balance (physical and mental). Which DVD did you go for.0

Well....... I think I will like this! Not too sure about the spiritual, energy thing....... but i think I will definitely feel the benefit of relaxation, the benefit for my joints, balance, posture etc.....

Will investigate that ...sorry for late response. How are you getting on with it?0

Have to admit not really getting into it......I have bought another DVD and really looking forward to practising but for various reasons I haven/t been able to use the TV in the lounge where I have space to do it........ on my little TV in the conservatory I just don't have room....so I am waiting for the football season to start again so that I can get rid of hubby and reclaim the space!

OK....I did a bit of a session this afternoon to try to learn some of the moves......I found out that you need more space than you think.....that it is very difficult to follow the moves while trying to continuing facing the TV.....that my co-ordination seems to be somewhat lacking.......but having spent about 40 minutes doing it I can feel in my body that I have done something!
I would like to practise every day but realistically that won't happen as I prefer to do things like this when I have the house to myself.....so I will just have to do it when I can ...... seems quite tricky to get feet and hands in the right place at any given time! lol:ohwell:

Good to know you've felt in your body that you've done something. You've inspired/encouraged me to get the same DVD
My plan is to watch the DVD on my laptop in the spare bedroom where I have quite a lot of space.0 -
Let me know what you think.....I may look for a local class........ I think that might be more useful but the dvd is good to get an initial idea of the moves

Back when I did tai chi, I found doing it with a group so much better than doing it on my own. The energy is just different and I felt so much more relaxed.0
