Best of luck Laura!! (Hope you like today's threadstarter
)
Today is packing day. This is when it starts to get real. Every little mini tantrum and every little argument that my kids throw at me are constant reminders that I'm about to be travelling alone with them for a very long trip. :indifferent: Leaving tomorrow morning.
Hope everyone is having a beautiful Saturday!0 -
Really like the threadstarter. I also want us all to win!
Good luck with your packing day and travels. My only traveling tricks are lots of kid snacks, toys & stickers.
Yesterday my work friend shined but I still went on a walk and it felt so good to be outside. Ate too many calories but could have been worse. I really need to eat MORE earlier in the day but I have a hard time doing that.
This morning I woke up with a very sore left knee -- I tend to hyperextend. So I'm taking an unplanned rest day and Advil. Tomorrow I'm meeting a different pal for a walk (with strollers).
I'm planning to do some cooking today. It's only going to be 74* today, so I'll even use the oven. I'm loathe to turn the oven on when it's hot (last week was 90*+).
Happy, healthy, Saturday all!0 -
Happy Saturday!
Today I surprised myself with an 8K run, and I say that because I don't usually do that distance two days in a row. I went out totally expecting a 5 or 6K and felt good so kept it going. The end was all uphill so my legs were feeling it. I have ended the week with 37km. Thats pretty good compared to what I have been doing lately.
aprilfoolbrid - hope that knee feels better!
Sherry - happy travels, I hope all goes well and the kiddo's behave!0 -
Sherry today's threadstarter is perfect!
My half was awesome. It was really freaking cold. Just over 40F (which is about 5C), foggy and misting with a bit of a wind. We had to drop our bags (that I put my sweats & sweatshirt in) before we could go into the area where the start gate was and it was about a 20 minute wait from when they asked us to line up to the start of the race (and then 8 minutes before my group even crossed the start line -- 8500 runners). Some nice lady gave me an extra trash bag to pull over my head that I wore until shortly before we started, then discarded. Wasn't so worried about getting wet but it was warmer (I had on a short sleeved shirt & shorts). Once we got running it was fine. My goal was to finish in under 3 hours. I thought if I really had an excellent day I could get close to 2:45. Final time 2:36:07, so I'm really happy with that. And I spent 4 minutes standing in line at a porta-potty at the 6 mile line. Only a few people in front of me and couldn't understand why they were in there so long. What the heck are you doing? It's not pleasant in there. Thank goodness it wasn't hot out because even in the cold they smelled horrific. But that had the shortest line of any of the ones I had seen. I went for a short walk this afternoon -- sun came out and it got nice out, and thought it would feel good on my leg muscles (my feet weren't quite as enthused about it). Am nearly at 40,000 steps for the day. I'm thinking I might want to sleep on the couch tonight because the bedroom is upstairs and I don't know if I'll make it back down those stairs in the morning!
Good luck traveling Sherry!
Nice run Maureen! Nice run total for the week! Here we'd say nice mileage -- not sure how that translates to kilometers.
Hope your knee feels better tomorrow aprilfoolbrid!0
