I am looking for people's experience of using HRT and the impact on weight loss. Since being diagnosed as peri-menopausal last year I have been prescribed HRT patches. As I'm in the UK these are not fully bio identical (bio-identical HRT I'm told by my GP is not available only through specialist clinics which are VERY expensive over here). The patches are Evorel - pure estriol for 2 weeks then 2 weeks of Estriol and a progesterone supplement.
The HRT has helped a lot with the symptoms (depression, hot flushes, night sweats) but I put on 14lb in the early stages of being on the HRT that I am desperate to lose and the usual 'eat less move more' isn't working. I read about the progesterone cream but don't think I can use that with the patches I am already on.
So just wondering if anything else might help. Would dandelion root help? Surely the eat less move more mantra should work eventually - even if its slower than usual?

Hi, I started Vivelle patch and Prometrium three months ago. Just went in for a recent check up and my weight was up 2 lbs (and my blood pressure was up as well). Too soon I think to know how this will play out but using MFP to journal food intake has helped, checked today and I'm down three lbs. 20ish more to go.0
