Lafayette Reservoir

Looking for something fun to do and get credit for the 30 Minutes to Fit Challenge? Then you’re in luck! One of the most beautiful places in the Bay Area is right in our backyard. The Lafayette Reservoir is a great place to go any time of the year and is host to countless outdoor activities. Try one of these ideas below for your 30 minutes of physical activity!
What you need to know:
Parking: There is hourly and all day parking. An all day pass is $7. Hourly parking is $1 per hour with a 2 hour maximum. Meters take both change and credit cards.
Hours: Open every day from sunrise to sunset
Dogs: Allowed on leashes. Leashes cannot be longer than 6 feet.
Things to do:
Walking: The lower paved Lakeside Nature Trail is 2.7 miles long with low-moderate inclines and hills.
Hiking: The upper unpaved Rim Trail is 4.7 miles and contains moderate to intense inclines and hills.
Bicycling/ Roller Blading: Bicycles and roller blades are allowed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to closing and on Sundays from sunrise to 11:00 a.m. on the lower trail only.
Boating and Kayaking: Available to rent at the Visitor’s Center.
Open Space: There are numerous open spaces and grassy fields that surround the reservoir which are perfect for activities such as, flag football, a pick up soccer game, outdoor yoga and more.
