Day 5 of my Second Whole 30. Feeling GREAT!

So I'm on Day 5 of my second whole 30. I've been VERY strict and tracking here to make sure I stay within calorie recommendations as well. I feel AMAZING. I have more energy, detox was next to nothing because I'd been doing Paleo like 90%. Exercise has always been a weakness of mine. I am excessive sweater and I hate to exercise because of that. Now I've made a promise with this whole 30 to exercise every day. I did cardio for the first 4 - BORING. But today I decided on my second goal for the summer - turning my backyard from an over grown eyesore to a beautiful paradise. I did about an hour of clipping, (small) tree felling and chopping today. I was pouring sweat in buckets but came in and feel wonderful!!! No question here. I just have to share and please add me. I need more Paleo supportive friends!!!

That's awesome! I haven't done Whole 30, but I did a similar 21 day (paleoish) challenge that just ended and I feel amazing! Friend request sent!

I've done two Whole30s as well. I enjoyed them but at the end of my last one I seemed to go mental and had trouble being consistent with good food choices from day to day. Maybe it created an "eat all the things" mentality for me or something? I do best when I am strict 95% and have 5% other stuff day to day. I never ever eat wheat.
I am now into intuitive eating (still tracking after to see the macro trend) and I'm LOVING that. The calorie restriction of the last 2 years has left me stuck and with a near dead metabolism. The things one learns in hindsight!
I'm glad that you are feeling great, but I would recommend that you do Whole30 as intended and NOT track the calories. I regret that I didn't follow that part on my two W30s. Your body knows what you need of the right foods; have some faith. All we do by stepping in and controlling calories is lose muscle and slow metabolism.0 -
What is whole 30
Whole 30 is when you go a whole 30 days with all strict Paleo foods 100% - no cheating. Typically 80%-95% Paleo is more typical. But for the first 30 days or when you need a jumpstart, you do 30 days with nothing but strict Paleo foods - also no sugars, no starchy vegetables, no dairy.

I'm kinda tracking differently. I don't track until the end of the day after I've eaten everything I'm going to eat for the day. I don't even think about the calories during the day. LOL. Some days I'm UNDER the calories they say I need. Most days I'm just about where they think I should be. I have NEVER been over. I like tracking this way to keep in perspective that I'm not doing anything too different than most people - eating less calories and getting more exercise. The only real difference between me and my mother who does Weight Watchers is that her calories come from crappy 100 calories packs, grains, and processed food. Mine come from real foods.0

What a great post carrieann! Sounds like you are doing it right and have a great plan toward tracking, I love hearing things like this and they only encourage me to whole 30 someday. Keep us posted, I'm sure you will learn a lot with what you are keeping track of and will better stay on track after your W30. Thanks for the positive post!0

Good to hear it Carrieann, the one thing about the whole 30/reset that I find annoying is the writers (I mean all of them that promote jumping into the lifestyle) want people who are currently not doing well in their eating habits to just start off doing a full reset. I think dipping your feet in then getting in a bit further before you try a whole30/reset is way smarter due to the detox that you mentioned that can be tough an anyone to just jump in the pool.0
