Goals are Dreams with Deadlines!

Hello Ladies! Just wanted to share something that have helped me (and still is helping me) reach my fitness goals or any kind of goals for that matter. We often find ourselves (or at least I do) dreaming and saying "OH I wish I was this fit or I wish I was as skinny as her". The reality of things that people who are fit are probably working their tail off to look and feel a certain way. Those people are DOERS!

When I got completely sick and tired of the way I felt and looked, I decided for myself that enough is enough. I cannot be this miserable and I KNOW that I CAN and capable of changing things, if I wanted to. I set a measurable goal for myself that I want to lose certain amount of pounds or inches by a certain date. Once I set a goal and a deadline, I usually go ALL in. Of course, sometimes it is not as easy as it sounds and I tend to fall off track, but I do my very best to achieve that goal by my deadline.

When I first started my fitness journey I set a goal for myself that I wanted to lose my first 10lbs by February 1. Once I reached that goal, I went ahead and set another one. The goals do not have to be huge; they can be little goals but those little goals will eventually be the BIG picture. Right now my goal is to lose 2 inches off my waist, 2 inches off my thighs and 1 inch off my arms by Labor Day! I am not concentrating on the scale too much because muscle weighs more than fat and after all we all care how good our clothes fits!

So if it helps you stay accountable, please share your MEASURABLE goal with us. It could be as small as I would like to get at least 4 workouts in by June 30th. I would love to hear your goals and help you achieve them!

By July, I want to be 42 kg.
    By August 41 kg.
    By September 40 kg.

In short I want to be 1 kg down each month. It may be slow but I think it is more sustainable and attainable. Besides, I don't have much to lose. I want to be more toned by September though. I would be happy to lose 2 inches off my waistline by September and 1/2 or 1 inch off my upper arms.

I've been 39 before and that's the weight when I had my abs the very last time so I want it back. I'm 5'0" and really small framed Asian that's why I still don't look sickly thin even weighing that light. I really want the handful of flab on my stomach and upper arm gone. I want them looking toned and firm.

I am just starting 30 day fitness challenge. Actually, I've already done 9 days of it but I stopped and has rested for almost a week so I restarted and back on 2nd day. I want to really do it continuously as I am already seeing slight changes on the tone of my muscles.

Before the challenge, my only exercise is walking with my baby, carrying him on a carrier instead of putting him on a stroller.I try to walk for at least 30 minutes a day. Sometimes, I can do till 2 hours. I've been doing it since late Feb 2014 I think. Then I started following walk videos on April 2014 I just found on youtube. My fave is those by Jessica Smith as I am not bored with her walk videos and it is a combination of cardio and strength training. I try to do at least 30 minutes a day. I don't go to gym as I can't leave my baby for long time, I am exclusively breastfeeding. ^^

To be honest, I've been off track twice already. Every time it took me 2 weeks to go back on track. I also had those occasional binge days although I go back on track only after 1-3 days. It took me long to reach almost 42kg. I gave birth to my baby just last year October 30. I started reducing my cal intake just late January. I was 54kg after delivery. So it took me 8 months to reach 42 kg ^^.

My goal really is to be a little under ideal because I know when maintenance comes, my weight will fluctuate and it is definitely easier to gain than to lose.

I figured if I start late, I will just procrastinate more with getting back in shape until I actually give up on it so I started as early as possible. We will also be getting married next year at the latest and I want to look really good in my wedding dress. Besides, we plan to have another child after 3-4 years so I thought I only have another 3-4 years to enjoy my fitness before getting big again :)

It is really good that you can go to the gym. I actually really wanted to originally. And I heard really good things about the shred. I plan to do it after I finish the 30 day fitness challenge I am currently doing. Good luck to both of us! Actually, all of us here :)

    Sent you request already.

BTW on PiYo, what are the essentials? Do you need Swiss ball at home?
  • I don't think I got the friend request :) You can search my name as well Polina Yurovitsky.

PiYO is basically a mix between Yoga and Pilates with a little faster pace. The trainer who invented it Chalene Johnson took the best moves from both and created her own 60 day program. You use your own body as resistance and the program focuses on strength building, definition and flexibility. I am on day 3 and I already feel the difference. I am also starting Insanity program (that's the one that got me crazy results when I first started) on top of it. I think we all need Piyo because it is so good for the body and it prevents injuries and improves flexibility. I always liked the long lean look as opposed to bulky and I think this is the golden program that will get me there!!!
