Hope everyone had a nice weekend. On Saturday I went to a dog event with my dogs near my mother's house. I got there at 1 pm, but we didn't get the chance to run until about 6 pm. Neither dog qualified, but they did okay.

I stayed Saturday night at my mother's. Her birthday was last Wednesday. My nephew's birthday is this coming Wednesday. My birthday is today.

Yesterday morning I went out running. I made a wrong turn and ran a different route than I was expecting to run. It had a lot more traffic. I scared a driver and could have caused an accident, so learned a bit more about running. I was running straight for an intersection of two busy roads. They didn't hit at exactly 90 degress, but at more of an angle. I knew that I had no intention of crossing the intersection, so did not slow my pace. Right at the intersection I made the turn to the right to stay on the sidewalk (I was inches from the road before, during, and after this turn and kept running. A car planning to turn right at the light had the right of way and was also not slowing. They must have thought just as they turned, that I wasn't turning and would run just in front of their car. They slammed on their brakes, causing the little truck behind them to suddenly brake, too. There was screeching, and the two cars came close, but no one hit each other, and, of course, since I didn't enter the road as the first car had expected, but turned, I was fine. Scared me though, because I really would not have wanted to cause an accident just because I was tired and being unclear about where I was planning to go. Got the 8 miles in, with a little bit of walking. The sun was hot!

My sister came up to my mother's with her two boys, including the birthday boy, and the three of us went to Outback Steakhouse. Before we left, my sister made a pan of brownies to be our birthday cake. Unfortunately she wasn't as familar with my mother's oven as she could have been. So she put the oven on broil rather than bake and turned off the timer that she thought she had turned on. The boys and I in the other room smelled the brownies and had been enjoying the chocolate smell, when at the same time we noticed
a bit of a burning odor and my mother said "The brownies are burning. What do you have the oven set to?" They were pulled out to cool and we left for the restaurant. When we came back we had our broiled burnt birthday brownies with ice cream. Luckily except for a bit of crust on the top, they were pretty good.

    Tonight I run 3 miles!

Yesterday was Bad News Bears. Not going to dwell or beat self up—moving on.

Weight loss is 80% fork, 20% sweat. I’m consistent about exercise so I’m trying to focus on fork more than feet.

This morning I went for a short walk and spent some extra time prepping my lunch. I was going to have a LC pizza but I’ve had so much high-sodium food that didn’t sound like a good idea. So I made a tuna salad.

Had a protein shake for breakfast 1 and oatmeal with fruit for breakfast 2. I brought hard boiled eggs and veggies for snacks. Yesterday I slow cooked chicken fajitas, which we will have tonight with low-carb tortillas.

Thanks for the reminder to bring healthy snacks on my trip, I have a bunch of protein bars ready to be packed. And when we buy diapers, I’ll grab some produce and healthy snacks.

Happy birthday Donna! Your weekend sounds like quite the adventure. Ice cream makes everything taste better, even broiled burnt brownies.

April I traveled last October for work. I typically do a protein shake for breakfast so I bought those & a blender bottle, so at least I wasn't having a high calorie breakfast every day. I also packed snack bars. I was at a conference during the day - they had kind of a food court setup and one of the options was an express line with salads, yogurt parfaits, fruit cups, etc., so I went there every day. Dinner I indulged a little bit because I had eaten light the rest of the day.

I did well my first week getting back on track with the fork - down 2.2 pounds from last Monday and 4.3 pounds from the Friday before that. The scale dropped a bit the first several days, stabilized for a few days, then dropped again, so I'm giving myself credit for .6 pounds of new weight (the drop after the scale stabilized) and the rest was water weight. I'm up 1.9 pounds from my lowest weight on this journey but I'm definitely moving in the right direction again.

I have a walk scheduled with a friend at lunch and have my trainer after work tonight.

Happy birthday Donna! Funny about the brownies...I have this oven that can either bake or convention bake which i almost never use...so my daughter tells me a few weeks ago to use it middle of cooking because my pumpkin cake for bookclub I doubled the recipe wasn't cooking in the middle...I switched and only gave 7 more min but its super fast and I overcooked a bit!

April I am there with you its Fork....I exercise almost daily and because I don't run like most of you not working off as many calories unless I do a long hike.

I did my mini hike this morning, hills about where I live up and down trail takes about a hour.

Will swim later, warmer today for next 10 days...summer is here!

Happy birthday Donna! Wish you hadn't mentioned brownies--they're my absolute weakness, baked, broiled, or raw! Lol

I'm glad we're having the fork discussion, because I don't see how y'all do it here in the land of milk and honey! There is so much food here! I'm totally losing control, and portion sizes, and calorie content...it's all so difficult and I'm way out of practice with this, in these conditions! All while not getting my workouts or even my step goal! Sigh. Hoping that after the excitement and novelty of all this food wears off, I'll be back in business.

Well today didn't see any exercise, but I got almost all my shopping errands done in one fell swoop. I got running shoes, laces, socks, English books, my favorite undies, etc....AND found the perfect gym who would take actual cold hard cash (don't get me started!) for one month. I got properly fitted for running shoes and FINALLY got the correct size (which I can't buy in Athens) and the lady at the running store gave me a map of a 5mile loop nearby. Yay, I'm set!

Have a good one! Really appreciate all the thread starters. I struggle to even log on and read or checkin from this iPad, so posting cute little thread starters would probably be out of the question for me at this point, so thank you!
