Day One

Hi guys. Just wanted to see how this group thing works - thought it might be easier to talk to each other this way. So Im already STARVING - i know this will just last a few days. Ive been in "vacation" mode for like 6 weeks now (explains weight gain) and I am used to having something sweet after every meal (even breakfast...lol). Anyway, looking forward to seeing some of you tonight at swimming/cycling at Sam's and hopefully I will be able to make Thursday morning. Also, I am going to try and do one thing each week to improve my lifestyle. Thought maybe we could all share something with one another that could encourage us to better ourselves. The hope is that some of the things might carry forward as habits! Here is mine (starting small/from scratch):

This week I am going to exercise in each triathlon discipline and have a positive attitude about re-entering the training realm.

Anyone else want to share?

xo Love you all.

Thanks for setting this up Laura! Its a great idea to keep up wtth each other here rather than on FB!

I lost 50 lbs using MyFitnessPal back from Nov 2011 to Nov 2012. It will take some adjustments to your body if you're used to consuming 2x-3x the number of calories you are supposed to. I should've suggested to have people just log their food for a week with no changes so they can understand how many calories over the norm they were consuming. The key on MFP is to exercise! It earns you extra calories to eat. Every 500 calorie burn workout is another meal you can eat. I tried to always stay within 200 calories of my goal, regardless of whether i worked out or not. Some days I would go over but that's okay. Ideally, I tried to be under at the end of the week (you can see your weekly totals on your home page). The key is to be honest and log everything. The second you start omitting things you ate in your food diet, you're defeating the purpose. This WILL work, I promise! I'm really excited for us all to go out to a nice (healthy) dinner on the last day of our challenge and celebrate everyone's success!!
