3 days or 4?

I heard about this program yesterday, bought the app, and it looked great. Today I started reading Body By You, and now I'm confused. The app has 4 workouts per week, but the book keeps saying three. The whole reason I wanted a program like this is because I don't feel confident about figuring it out on my own. Why don't they match up? Is it because Body By You is for women, so it's different? Should I not use the default beginner program in the app? And if I do, does that mean I do two days in a row once a week, or what? :-/

Because the app was build for the original book "You Are Your Own Gym" and follows the four plans discussed there.

As far as I know, I haven't used the app for a while, you can use the workout builder to build the workouts for BBY.

You can start with the beginner workout of the app, but BBY is more flexible. In BBY if your legs are strong but your arms aren't, you can do a difficult exercies for the legs and an easy one for the arms. In YAYOG you can use a slightly easier version of the exercise, but you won't have that flexibility. The workout is build to a certain strength level and as a woman you can struggle with it.

I did use the beginner program when I started, BBY wasn't out yet, so I know it is doable but depending on your fitness level BBY might be better for you.

Yes, if you do Basic YAYOG you will work out two days in a row, later you have 5 workouts a week, so even less breaks.

OK, thanks. So, it's not looking like the app is well suited to using with BBY, unfortunately. :-( I tried to use the workout builder to create the Day 1 sample workout from the book, just to see how it works, and I could not find a way to create a workout with 2 sets each of four different exercises, with different interval periods. That kind of sucks.

You have the android app? Then yes, two different interval periods doesn't work, but it was said that they are working on it and will release a version where it works. You could create a workout with the longer interval periods and just skip to the next exercise when the shorter period is over but of course you will have to look at the app more often if you do that.

I have the iPhone app and the early workouts have 4 days per week and the last 4 weeks have 5 days. I do however many days are scheduled for the week in the app and take the rest of the week as rest days, fitting them in where they work best for my schedule. Since each day works different muscle groups and there's one week off between working the group it's worked out well.
