Good morning!
Since I've been terrible about posting since I got back, I thought I'll do it early today. Hope you're all doing good and enjoying the summer! I know Sherry's on vacation, what about the rest of you? Any summer plans? I'll now be working for the rest of the summer.
I went to the gym for the first time yesterday and I think I'm gonna like it. It's really small and not superwell equipped but it's got what I need so it'll do. Was ever so slightly intimidated at first because, like I said, it's tiny and when I came in, it was all guys lifting. But I put in my music and ignored them and they ignored me I tried the exercises for the programme I wanna start to figure out how much weight I should start with, and then I went on the elliptical. I had planned to do HIIT in 10 rounds of 30-60 secs but after six rounds I just could not continue anymore so I lowered the resistance and did a 5 minute cool down. I think it might make more sense in a way to do weights and cardio on alternate days but I don't think I'm gonna wanna go there every day. We'll see. I actually really enjoyed the weights, though. I had never worked out with weights heavier than 4 kg since that's what I've got at home and it was so hard but in the best way possible
Have a great day everyone!0 -
Nice to hear from you Ines! Great thread starter today. I'm glad you like your gym. I love lifting weights.
I'm not taking any time off this summer, but tomorrow is Independence Day here in the United States so I do have a long weekend coming up. I'm registered for a 5K tomorrow morning but otherwise don't have any plans over the weekend, which is nice. I'm going to try to talk myself into getting some projects done around the house.
My trainer is on vacation for the next week so tonight would typically be a Jason night, but I'm on my own. He gave me a bit of strength homework for Saturday but otherwise the following week is all cardio. Ho hum.0 -
Good to hear from you Ines. Sounds like the gym is a good fit for you. Hope it continues to work out well.
Enjoy your Jason vacation, Laura. Nothing is stopping you from doing some strength work. You can do whatever you want this week!
Glad that things are working out for you, too, Sherry. The gym sounds great.
I ran to Metobolic Conditioning class last night, but it turned out that I was the only one who came, so they cancelled the class. Zumba is also held on Wednesday night and started 15 minutes after the MC class was to start. So I went to Zumba. Then ran home.
Don't know what I'm going to do tonight. Might just take the dogs for a long walk.
Tomorrow I had planned to go to a 5k race and enter on the day, but probably won't make it. A few weeks ago I went to a friends' house and accidently left Colin's leash there. It takes 45 minutes to drive to their house, so I haven't gotten around to getting the leash. Tomorrow there is a local dog conformation show which my friend will attend and bring the leash. I should go to the show and pick it up. My current plans are to wake up early, run 6-8 miles, then shower, dress, and go to the show.
This weekend is yet another flyball tournament. It's about a 4 hour drive from my house, so I'll head down there tomorrow night. I'm going to try to get a run in on Sunday morning. Everyone have a great weekend!0 -
Good morning everyone
Sticky foggy icky day here. Going to cross my fingers there is a strength class tonight and she doesn't cancel. I could do a short run just in case she does, then I'll have done something. I do prefer to do my running in the morning. hmmmm0 -
Donna I hate my Jason vacations. But I guess I don't get to tell him he's not allowed to take any personal time. ha ha. I told him I don't want to strength train without him because it's boring. (Really it is.) I kept trying to tell him I get to have a lazy week but he wasn't buying into it.0

5 sticky hot miserable kms done! Phew, even my elbows are tired. Lol It was much more humid and hot than I expected. So, if my class is cancelled tonight I still have my exercise in. If its not cancelled....I will get some bonus exercise time (and hopefully not be too tired)0

Hi all. My gym is small too, I live in small town. I don't use the few new machines very often mostly use the classes upstairs.
Did Nia dance this morning and going to swim before work. I close at work alone for first time today...and finally figured out how to heat shrink the caps not he bottles...
I work part time at oil & vinegar place. We buy big jugs from Italy and bottle our own. I like the young owner (I am laughing because probably most of you are her age 35) us 3 part time ladies are all middle age up...
I am getting stronger from lifting the boxes of bottles and the jugs (30-50 lbs)0 -
Love the thread starter!
Today I did lower body at the gym. It takes a lot of quick math in my head to try to figure out how many pounds to do, instead of kilos; and sometimes it doesn't matter anyway because different machines get different range of motion. I like these machines, plus the cables. A trainer helped me with some machine settings and he noted how much weight I was using (felt good, like I've made progress in these months). Had a light lunch with a friend but when I saw what my mother in law was fixing for dinner, I went out for a walk around our property to try to pre-burn some calories before dinner! Lol. Still wasn't enough! Wishing these country roads were safe for walking so I could do a walk without fear of snakes and critters (guess I'm a city girl at heart!)
Taking kids to a good ole fashioned Independence Day parade tomorrow, followed by grilled hotdogs and hamburgers and apple pie with ice cream!! I'll have to run alllll next week!! Lol
Have a good one!0
