MFP has been quiet this weekend! Everyone must be busy.
I got out for a run early this morning (just before 7:00). Tried to get out between rain showers. The road was still wet from the rain we got overnight and the air was nice and fresh when I started. I ran 10K and set a new PB (1:14:42). This is my longest run in 2 weeks and I really just set out for an easy run. I had about 4K left to go when it started raining, so I picked up the pace. It rained lightly on me the rest of the way & started raining harder about 5 minutes after I got into the house.
Sherry how's your trip going?0 -
I was so exhausted by the 4th I forgot to come online here...we left for lake in afternoon and didn't get home that day until 1:30am and to sleep until 2:30am so I did nothing yesterday but read, swim and watch tv.
Starting today is summer weather for here, today 89 and then next ten days high 90's...
Going to do mini hike now and then swim later...0 -
I noticed its quiet too. It's not easy for me to type on this lil iPad mini, so my replies are a bit brief, but I'm trying to keep up. The trip is great, except for all the overeating (why do families always celebrat and congregate with copious amounts of food! Lol!). We've got a picnic in the mountains planned for tomorrow, before the rain clouds come on Tues. I hope to get to the gym before we set out, If I wake early enough. Today is full rest, especially for my legs which got shocked by that run yesterday.
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!0 -
When I posted earlier it was in the lower 60s and raining. I went to take a nap (when I crawled out of bed early to run I promised myself a nap when I got home) and woke up to 81 and sunny. I slept for about an hour so that's quite a switch! I'm so glad I ran before it got hot out.
Marla your day yesterday sounds like a great way to recover from a busy holiday! Hope it isn't too hot on your hike.
Sherry I think the massive amounts of food must be mandatory. Years ago we had a birthday party for my grandpa and my aunt called me to tell me what I was bringing, and that I was making 4 batches of it. I think 1 batch got eaten. It was something I didn't like (spam salad anyone?) but fortunately other people loved it because I had a giant, giant bowl of it left over. I don't know how many people she thought were going to be at that party but we could have fed a small army. Enjoy your rest day today & I hope your legs forgive you.0 -
Only go in the morning and my mini hike has lots of shade and trees its in the hills above my house, what it is is a long advanced cross country ski trails that go back and forth and up and down pretty steep. I live only 5 min from it. Nice!
Takes an hour to walk them and when I am feeling frisky I run part way...
My new fav hike is 1/2 hour from here way out in country and forest area on road that leads to dead end 18 miles out so not many people except hikers, or people camping in the forestry sites. And the river goes all the way down there.
It's a 4-5 mile hike in the trees, there is elevation climb on drive not hike so its a bit cooler and its very treed so lots of wild flowers and ferns. We are going to leave early around 8am and do that hike tomorrow. I know 8 isn't early for most of you but we are night peeps!!! :laugh:0
