I'm new to mfp. I have struggled with disordered eating for a very long time. I've been extremely underweight and now over. I have found that completely depriving myself of any food will lead to a binge. I try to eat clean 80%. I'm counting calories on mfp and I'm a doing c25k and yoga. Being accountable for what I put in my mouth is necessary but I feel like it's making me preoccupied with the numbers and if I under eat I'm ready to eat to my max #; if I'm over calories I'm depressed and feel like giving up. When I was in treatment before it was suggested I eat three meals 2 snacks if needed and not count calories. Does anyone else find that the numbers leads to binging? I really want to lose weight and get fit. Any suggestions??

My therapist did suggest I quit counting calories and weighing myself - it leads to obsession / preoccupation with food which can lead to binges. However, because my diet was harmful and limited fats and proteins, my dietitian wants me to log foods to ensure I am getting enough proteins and fats. Conflicting I know.0
