Thanks for the suggestions on eating more and not getting too flinging-flanging hungry! It seemed to help to eat more protein later in the day. I’m also going to start bringing in veggies like it’s my job. Nobody ever got fat eating cauliflower, right?
Sherry, I lol’ed when I read that your scale was 5lbs off. I guess you haven’t been eating enough biscuits!
Laura, how often do you see your trainer? Are you training for something?
Goals Report Wednesday:
Sort of: Prepare healthy meals & snacks in advance so it’s EASY to make healthy choices.
Last night had dinner according to plan. Hubs made pasta and sauce and I made a yummy goat cheese/beet/walnut salad. What was our dinner missing? More protein. So I ended up eating more than I wanted to. We’re having leftovers tonight WITH MEAT.
Check plus: Guzzle loads of water
Check: Reach my 8k step goal EVERY day
Check: No fast food
Check plus: Eat 5 fruits/veggies a day
CLOSE ENOUGH: Eat within cals +/- 150. I ate over by 154.0 -
Hi all. Fires from all sides now smoke all over and ash covering everything and totally messed up my pool even though auto cleaner and filter on for hours and us trying to net it out, finally giving up!
It's not close enough for worrying about my house but its in the air all over because i live in a small valley and when the wind blows it here it tends to stay until wind changes and we are surrounded by big fires coming from all sides so it actually doesn't matter which way the wind blows we are stuck!
As you can tell I am not feeling very positive today. Haven't been able to go outside for days, the air quality is on unhealthy and you can smell the smoke. Even hanging out indoors my allergies are up and I had a bit of a sore throat today when i woke up but that might have been the extra wine i drank last night from stress!!!
I skipped class as I didn't want to go out until work in an hour from now.
I am leaving early Saturday for 3 days for my bday which will be great having fresh air but now i am worried about leaving my cats. I will leave key with a friend just in case...ugh!!!!!
I love the mountains but not now!
So I wouldn't call this a rest day or days, I would just say not exercising to reserve lungs!0 -
Marla that sounds so frustrating. I don't even like when one of my neighbors has a bonfire going in the yard and my house smells like smoke from that so I can't imagine being surrounded like that. Happy early birthday!
April glad you're coming up with some strategies that help! I see my personal trainer 3 times a week for 30 minute sessions of strength training. I do my cardio on my own, but for a lot of it he directs me what to do. I'm coming up on 18 months with him and it's been seriously life changing. Right now I'm not training for anything specific although I ran a half marathon in June and would not have gotten through it without him.
I ran before work this morning - 5 miles & my first time doing fartleks. I ran for 15 minutes to warm up (with a couple of running drills mixed in), then did six intervals of 90 seconds at an easy pace, 90 seconds at a moderate pace and 90 seconds at a fast pace, and finally ran 14 minutes for my cool-down. Jason told me to run 10-15 for my cool-down but at 14 I hit 5 miles which seemed like a good time to stop. I'll see Jason after work for an upper body strength workout.0 -
Hi, it's late and I'm beat, so quick...
Lower body at gym today. Woulda loved to have run, BUT....... I had my parents with me!! I talked them into checking out the gym, and I think they are going to start!! I'm so happy! My mom barely walks from bed to the kitchen to eat 3x day, and my very active dad is lonely and worried about her. I think the gym will do them both a world of good, both physically and mentally (getting out of the house and havin a purpose a few days per week). Fingers crossed it works out for them.
Rest of the day was family. We did a big whole family outdoor photo session with a photographer. A good day. Sleepy now:yawn:0 -
Wow, it's been a long time! I had a three week long trip from Phoenix to South Carolina and then back. Add some health issues, and I've been a little out of it!
Finally got a run in for the first time in weeks! Just shy of 2 miles, so not very long but I finally got myself out that door! I kept having problems with my hand since I fell on a trail run a month or two ago. But it wasn't getting better. Turns out I have a torn ligament that is a chronic injury if you don't immobilize it. It can lead to arthritis. I have a brace on now, but it kicks weight lifting and biking to the curb for the moment.
I missed all the encouragement here and I'm excited to get back on track. Took today off since it was my birthday.0
