Maureen, thanks for the thread starter.
Sherry, hope you are feeling well rested today.
Laura, did you get in a walk even though your friend flaked?
Yesterday I got in 102% of my step goal—yay me.
This am I got up early and went for a short walk and I feel great, I started off the day on a healthy foot.
Wed Goals report:
1) Eat within cals +/- 150. Check plus! I had 149 calories to spare!!!!!!!! I had 5 servings of veggies and 6.5 of fruit to get in volume.
2) Have a cooked veggie PLUS salad and/or soup with dinner. Nope, just had plenty of raw veggies since I had a different dinner than I expected.
3) Appetizers! As soon as I walk in the door from work (Danger Will Robinson! Danger!), put out plate of veggies and hummus. Check! Put out carrots and sugar snap peas and munched.
4) Log in dinner FIRST so I can work backwards from there. Check plus! My hubs called me at 4:30 and told me he forgot to crock the chicken. Usually we'd just get pizza. Instead, I came up with a high volume/satisfying dinner and am so proud of self.0 -
Excellent day yesterday April!
Wednesdays are my late night with Jason (don't start until 7:00) and I got to the gym just after 5:30, so I went for a 3 mile walk from there then spent 10 minutes on the bike before our workout. Had a tough workout. Hamstrings are sore today, either from the barbell weighted squats or the straight leg deadlifts or a combination of the two.
Met a friend at the track this morning and we did Week 1/Day 1 of Couch to 5K. She's been talking about starting it so I offered to do it with her the first time & she took me up on it. Was a lot of fun and she did great. I'm walking with the friend at lunch today who couldn't make it yesterday, and then I have Jason again tonight.0 -
Still no activity here. Still very jet lagged (didn't sleep at all night last night, then took a 3hr or 4hr afternoon nap). Also, it's so hot that my whole body sweats just sitting still. I became acclimated to air conditioning, plus came home to highest temps & humidity that DH said there's been thus far. Ugh. BUT, it's insane how much less I eat here! My US family is a very bad influence, but left to my own, I eat reasonably little. Still using iPad, making it harder to read and checkin, but better than my laptop which has a dead battery and must be plugged in all time. Catching boat tomorrow.
Hope to checkin semi regularly.
Hope all are well out there0 -
Just want to add that back-reading the threads is really enjoyable and SUPER inspiring! Y'all are great, and these threads really help to maintain focus on fitness. After a trip that strayed far from my new norm wrt fitness and diet, regaining focus here is a huge help. We will be heading to a rugged mountain island, and although there is no gym and no safe possibility of running, I will keep active (heck, the island is a blue zone, where people live healthily to a very rare old age) and through daily hikes to the beach and swimming, I will keep my target of returning to the gym and to running seamlessly when done. Thank you all for keeping the focus!0

Everyone else seems to be doing pretty good!
I didn't get my 5 mile run in last night or this morning, so I'm going to skip it and go on to my 10 mile run tomorrow morning.
The reason I didn't do the run is because I managed to get poison ivy on me somehow. It's made it difficult to sleep (I itch!!) and strangely enough my skin really hurts when I sweat. I went to my company's health center just a bit ago and the nurse practicioner said that I've got so much of my skin affected that she called in a presciption for steroid pills rather than the cream. She also gave me some claritin to take immediately. I'm really hoping to be better by this evening once I get started on the pills and get a good night's sleep and tackle the long run tomorrow morning in a good mood.0 -
Donna that sounds horrible! My instinct is to tell you to rest but I know that's hard when you're in training, so I'll tell you to use your best judgment.0

Ugh I am so tired. I spent over five hours in a hay field today. Missed lunch, so I ate the majority of my calories in the past hour. It is hard to measure how much exercise I got since everything is stop and go. So I will probably have to work out tonight, just to make sure I burned off all those extra calories I ate. I just feel like I have to much to do tonight, I have two finals tomorrow, not counting the term papers that are due tomorrow. But I would really hate to miss working out because I was so hungry after working that I ate more than my calorie allowance. I allowed myself a cheat day yesterday so I really can't afford two in a row. That might encourage bad habits. I'll get everything done eventually... Just might be a late night.0
