gallbladder has to come out....on Monday!!

My surgeon wants my gallbladder out ASAP because I keep getting gallbladder attacks. The soonest he can do it is Monday unless I opted for another surgeon but I wanted my surgeon. It's outpatient. Has anyone here had their gallbladder out? I really can't miss a lot of work so I am going to try to return Thursday - does that sound doable? What can I expect?

I had my gallbladder out on a Friday and went back to work a week from the following Monday. I think I could have gone back sooner, I didn't have a lot of pain, I was mainly just tired.

I have also had my gallbladder out. I was unemployed at the time but I remember healing quickly and probably would have only taken about a week off had I been employed. I only needed my pain medication for about 4 days.

I guarantee you that it will be easier to recover from gallbladder removal surgery than from WLS.

So sorry you are having to go through this, but you will feel so much better when it's done. I had mine taken out 25 years ago, way back before they did it laproscopicaly. It's so much easier now! I've been told it's similar to the sleeve surgery, but easier to heal from.

I had my gallbladder out on a Friday- 10 weeks after having a C-section. I had a 2 year old and a 10 week old and was nursing. I was in the hospital from 8am-2pm and the next morning I took the kids to a model train show. My husband had gallbladder surgery about 18 months ago. He had surgery on a Thursday, they kept him overnight because he had jaundice and he was back at work on Monday.
