Tide is Changing....Slowly

Sweden recently became the first major country to pretty much, flat out REJECT the whole CICO, low cal / low fat, fiasco perpetrated on those so willing to blindly accept "expert" and "conventional wisdom" dogma and ideology.

The UK has also begun to stick its toes in the water and "may" (just may) - be next.

40 years of "results" like those produced in the US as a result of the misguided efforts of those we SHOULD be able to trust for unbiased, science based, advice and direction (Drs, Dietitians, groups like the ADA, FDA, USDA, AMA, etc) - really should be enough.

Sadly, the cave man mentality (as in knuckle draggers, not the diet) exhibited in so many of the "mainstream" MFP groups, is still the "norm".

"Who you gonna trust.....ME, or your lyin' eyes?" - is alive and well, not only in the forums but still in an incredible segment of those who really ought to "know" better, Drs and Nutrition "experts".

"Science be damned, I KNOW what I KNOW"
The Earth is Flat,
The Earth revolves around the Sun,
Lo Cal / Lo Fat is healthy,
It's all about cal counting, exercise, sloth, willpower and gluttony - if you fail it's all YOUR OWN FAULT,
The Laws of Thermodynamics PROVE it and just look at the results of lo fat vs lo carb diets,
Low Carb is a "fad",
A carb is a carb, and,
Saturated Fat (butter) causes heart disease

ANY "study" with which I don't agree either is "flawed" or "I can find another study that says the opposite"

16 of 16 of the most recent studies - documented, subjected to peer review and a number conducted under strict "clinical" guidelines - say otherwise, but....

As a wise man, (J. B. S. Haldane, a British geneticist and evolutionary biologist.), once said, change comes slowly when an established "belief" faces change;

"Theories Have Four Stages of Acceptance";

(i) this is worthless nonsense;
(ii) this is an interesting, but perverse, point of view;
(iii) this is true, but quite unimportant;
(iv) I always said so.

    I copy and pasted all of these. Thank you so much for providing these pieces of information.
  • What an irony, Sweeden was the first country to start the low fat crap, US kind took on low fat bandwagon and ran with it after 20 years later Sweeden went low fat.
