Donna that sounds like a crazy day! Glad it all came together okay, but it sounds exhausting. Good luck with your 11 mile run today!

Marla evenings are where I typically struggle the most too. Having my trainer sessions after work actually helps me a lot. I go straight to the gym from work where I see Jason at 6:00 or 7:00 depending on the day (with an occasional 6:30 thrown in). I'll sometimes stop at the grocery store or Walgreens or gas station on the way home from the gym, then get settled, etc., so it's usually anywhere between 7:30-9:00 before I eat dinner. Every other Tuesday I have Pilates, so same thing. I typically don't have a huge appetite after my workouts for some reason so I'll eat a good dinner and then don't have enough time before bed to start getting hungry again, which eliminates my problem area of snacking those nights. The nights I don't have workouts or the weekends are where I really have to be disciplined, and I've had hit & miss results with that lately. This past week I've done so much better because I'm fed up with hanging out in the same 2 pound weight range, and I've finally dropped down to a new low weight.

I got in my 4 mile run yesterday about 4:30. It was overcast all day and the sun came out as I was pulling into the track parking lot, so it was warmer than I expected it to be. There was a breeze but it was sunny & humid so it felt warmer than it really was (temp was in the low 70s). This was my longest run in 4 weeks since the 10 mile run that forced me to start tapering. My foot is feeling good today (or at least not any worse than it has been) so I'm relieved about that. Today I've got some gym homework from Jason - cardio & shoulders - and I have to mow my lawn.

Thanks Laura, I find I am too tired to exercise at night except swim but mostly the idea is to do something anything to keep yourself busy that time of day. Its a down time for me and with time to think my emotional eating starts.

I am going to try to come up with more things to do in the evenings when I am tired besides watching tv or a movie.

I am kind of a naturally hyper person, I don't drink caffeine, ginger tea, and am buzzing most the time. If I exercise late more than a easy swim it keeps me up at night.

Would love to do a cd of yoga at night but I would have to pretend my husband is not home making noise! lol

    Off to work...then swim after.

I can sleep right after a workout. I'll nap after my run on the weekend, and the rare time I see my trainer super early on Fridays I come home, shower, then sleep for another hour before having to get up for work. It took me a long time to get used to running in the morning because I wouldn't have time to nap afterward. Eventually I did get used to it.

But finding something to do is a great idea. There was a period of time (before I worked out) where I took up cross stitch just to keep my hands busy in the evening while I was watching TV. It worked.

I have trouble sleeping directly after a workout, too, well except for yoga. Yes, unless I distract myself, I can munch all evening.

Well this morning I did my 11 mile run. I kept telling myself, that if I didn't finish it, then I would have to do it again. That was a big motivation for me. :) I'm now wondering if signing up for a half marathon was a good idea at all.

Again, as last Sunday, I set out later than I wanted. Last week was me being lazy, but this week was different. This morning I had some intestinal cramps. Very light. Not a big deal at all normally, but there is no way that I want to risk diarrhea or even loose stools while on a long run. I ate some breakfast and waited them out until I felt a bit better. Luckily that happened and after a few hours I was ready to go on my run.

Today was supposed to be sunny, but again luckily it was actually partly cloudy, and got a bit cloudier as the morning progressed and the temps rose. So no continual bright sun like last week. Also, because of last week, I made a point of resting for 15 minutes while I was halfway through the run. I rested under the shade of a tree before I started back. I still had to remind myself that I had to do an 11 mile run and a 12 mile run before my half marathon, according to my training plan. So unless I finished this run successfully, I would have to repeat it. That helped me keep going.

The plan actually called for a 10k race this weekend, followed by 11 miles next weekend and 12 miles on Labor Day weekend. The thing is, on Labor Day weekend I'm going to have a difficult time getting a long run in until Monday and I really don't want to run 12 miles on the Monday before my Saturday half marathon. I'm hoping that doing 11 this weekend, 12 next weekend, and the 10k on Labor Day Monday, will work out okay. With multiple three and four mile runs during the weeks of course. The plan says two 3 mile runs and one 5 mile run each week, but I'm happier with four 3 or 4 mile runs during the week and my fitness classes as well, of course.

Yes, I'm finally back. We have had a crazy month. My hand hasn't gotten better, which has severely limited my workouts. I'm going to see an orthopedic doctor on Tuesday to have it officially checked to see what's going on. Also, my kids started up school again which was a big change for us. Last year my oldest was in half-day kinder. Now she's full day with plenty of homework. add that to church stuff starting back up, and now she's taking piano lessons for the first time as well. Plus my two younger ones, I've been crazy busy getting ready. But I'm glad to be getting back into a routine again after a summer if randomness and chaos. I've gained about ten pounds back over the summer, but I'm ready to get back to it! Hopefully I get things taken care of with my hand so I can start biking and swimming again. Going to try a quick 1-2 mile jog tomorrow just to get back into the swing if things tomorrow. I have been walking my kids to and from school twice a day (about 2.5 miles total) in 100 degree heat so I think that'll help me get my metabolism going!

I also wasn't being entirely accurate with my logging because it was public and there is always that fear of someone saying something about what I ate. I made it completely private and that was the best choice for me, as now I've been logging everything and holding myself more accountable.

    Goals for this week:
    Log EVERYTHING!
Get a small workout in every day!
    Get back into my routine!
