Good morning all.......I'm back!!! It's so nice to have my cable and internet back on. It makes for very long days when they are off especially since it's been too hot to go outside. The heat index has been hovering around 110. I've been getting my steps in but I've had to get creative, lol. I have been out and about a few times just out of necessity.
Michael had his hernia surgery on Friday. He is such a grouch after surgery. It has something to do with how his body reacts to the anesthesia. As soon as he was up in a room and settled, I left him for the nurses to handle for my own sanity. That plus the fact that I had to catch the train and bus home and wanted to get home before dark. Saturday morning I had a conference to attend for a bible study that is getting ready to kick off at church. When I finished with that I headed back to the hospital to sit with Michael until he was discharged. Most of my time since then has been taken up being his nurse on call, lol. He is finally starting to feel better....less pain and that stupid anesthesia is out of his system. Yesterday I had to take Cody to the Urgent Care near the house because his ear was hurting. The school nurse looked at his ear and said it was completely raw inside and suggested I have it looked at. Turns out he has an ear infection. So, just call me Nurse Barnett.
During all of this turmoil I have been doing good at taking care of myself. I've been getting my rest, staying within calories, drinking my water, getting my exercise in and even finding a little time each day to do something just for me. I call that a win.
It seems like everybody else has been leading very busy lives while I was offline. So I guess my question for today is what have you done lately to take care of YOU? Yesterday, I sat down and read my book for an hour and told the boys that they would have to tend for themselves. I think today I'm going to cut a chunk of time out to re-do my nails. How about you?
Dee (in the Lou where it's still not as hot as where Nancy is but it's getting close, lol)

Good Morning All!!! I am winding down my day here...came home and got 12,567 steps in today! Yeah!! Did them on the treadmill......and dug out a fan, and set that up, so I had the fan blowing on me as I walked/jogged on the treadmill. Even with the AC on, it is hot!! Glad to see you back Dee...and happy to hear the surgery went well. And happy to hear you are keeping up your exercise and healthy eating 'Nurse Barnett' !! AND you are getting some 'down' time for yourself in too!! Good job!!
I have to give a lecture tomoro bright and early....tough audience too!
Zac is off in Yellowstone...hope he is having a wonderful time!! I want to hear about the 'firehole'!! Pat...great job a taking off and going for a bike ride!!! Heather....you are missing in action!! Hope you are keeping well!! And Karen.....hope all is well with you too!!
I know folks are winding down...getting ready for school...or taking a late break in the last days of summer...hope you are all keeping well! I can NOT believe that this is already the last days of August!!! One of my collegues this morning said that the astronomers from here have sighed the stars 'Suhail' (or Canopus is the English word for this group of stars) which when sighted means winter is just around the corner...so that means....we will not have a long summer/hot/humid season!! Yeah!!
So folks, wishing you all a happy and successful, healthy day!!!! Til tomoro!!!
Nancy (still hot, but not as humid!!)0
