Good Morning everyone!
Hopped on the scale this morning (as I normally do every morning) and happy to see that my weight today is back down in the 140's. 149.5. I have had a good few days and it does show, I know what I need to do.....I just need to keep doing it. I find that once I slip up....I keep slipping up.
Not sure what my exercise will be today, maybe a run, but I think its suppose to rain. I could do a JM workout in the basement, or tough out the run.0 -
Nice to get some good news from the scale today Maureen.
Today I walked to gym, did back & abs, walked home (little grocery shopping on the way). Fam will go out for a walk later too.
T.o.m. still has me having a case of the blahs, so I'm not all that social atm ( ).
Hope everyone has a great weekend.0 -
Congrats on breaking back into the 140s Maureen! Just keep that momentum going. I know exactly what you mean about what slip-up leading to others. Sometimes it's just a bad day but other times it turns into a bad week. Since my trainer weighs me in once a week it usually doesn't go any longer than a week because he checks me back in again. Your run yesterday sounds ideal!
Glad you were able to get out & get some activity despite TOM, Sherry.
Congrats on a successful first 10 days on MFP, Jane! Having someone to be accountable to really makes a difference for me too, and it's nice to do that with people in the same situation who can appreciate the good days & the bad along with you. Glad you were able to get in a run yesterday. I live in Northern Minnesota so I tend to prefer cool weather over warm, but 30 & raining is pretty diehard. I love that you had a cheering section! I was running one day and had someone yell out a car window "Go! Go! Go!" It made me smile.
Valma I hope your schedule settles down!
If I have my dates right Donna is running her half today. Good luck Donna!
My swim & massage were great last night. Today's homework is a 60 minute trail walk/run. There's a trail not far from me that's really hilly that I'll go to. It has 2.5K, 3.5K and 5.5K route options. The 5.5K usually takes me an hour to walk (it's REALLY hilly) but I haven't done a whole lot of running out there. I might end up in the middle of nowhere by 60 minutes, but we'll see what happens.0 -
Yay Maureen! I love hearing good news from others because it encourages me to keep going!
Sherry - I think we all understand why you wouldn't feel very social at the moment. That curse we get once a month is something to endure and survive. Hang in there!
Laura - I love trail runs/walks. We have beautiful views on the mountains by my house and I go right at dawn and watch the world wake up. Haven't been doing them recently, want to build up my strength again first.
The scale had been creeping up a half a pound at a time the past three weeks. This always happens when I take a break and then get back into working out. I know in my head that it's muscle mass building and the fat will go next...but it's hard to hang in there. But yesterday it finally dropped again. So hopefully I've rounded the corner and can start dropping weight again!
It's also supposed to rain this weekend and drop into cooler temperatures. I'm excited, since I'm so sick of running in the heat. It's been triple digits here for a really long time!
Have a great weekend! I finally get to get back into a routine this week!0 -
Did my half marathon today. It was also the hottest day we've had all summer and many don't actually consider this summer, now. Hot, humid, and sunny; bright sun all day. I decided just to survive. My goals became 1) finish within the maximum time limit of the race 2) don't get sick or seriously dizzy 3) don't come in last. I walked all the serious uphills. I took advantage of any chance to get wet. There were a number of kids throughout the race with hoses with sprinkler heads, up on ladders, spraying the water on to the road for any runners who wanted to take advantage of it. Also, whenever there were water stations I would sip a bit and pour most of it on to my head. The humidity was so bad that I wasn't drying, despite quick drying clothing, but each hit of cool water helped and gave me a quick jolt of energy. Even the little sipping a did was a bit much and my stomach was a little unhappy by the end. I ran right by the rita's water ice station at mile 12, as I couldn't even think about adding anything else to my stomach. I also stopped getting the drinking water and sipping or pouring it on me as it wasn't that cool by then and I was already so wet. I never skipped a sprinkler opportunity though. I did miss seeing one unmanned sprinkler at about mile 12.5, as I was so out of it, and ran right into it's path and got a surprise cold water in the face. The heat index was over 100 F! It was hard to run when all the other "runners" around me were walking.
I was so so happy to finish this! And shockingly, my time was faster than what I ran in the virtual half that I did on June 1st!!
I am seriously considering entering another half in the Spring, because I believe that I have a lot faster time in me. It might be fun to try one of these in April when it's not so hot!0 -
Great starter thread. I am better and finally going in pool for 2 last times today and tomorrow then turning heat off. Its getting colder here at night and even though days warm costs too much to heat.
I am not completely over this, but i am sick of this!!!!0 -
So happy to,see momentum in the healthy direction! Yay for half marathons, feeling better, getting in activity, scale dropping, and massages!
Went to Pilates this am & it was great! It was also so good to get in a Sat am workout... Then I went to an all day family gathering and started off eating chicken no rice and ended up gobbling brownies, cookies, cheese & eating cake off my hubs' plate. Ugh. THE WORST PART WAS THE FOOD WASNT THAT GOOD I WAS JUST VERY HUNGRY! Lesson learned: next time pre-eat, bring healthy veggies (there were literally no fresh veggies!) and stick protein bars in bag.0
