How frequently do you exercise?

Hi all! I'm a big fan of the group. Thanks to Sarauk and SideSteel for creating an oasis of logic in this sometimes-crazy website.
I have a question for folks here- how frequently do you exercise? Background: I've been working out at home for about 40 minutes 4 times a week- 2 days walking on an incline treadmill, 2 days doing Pilates and light dumbbell/bodyweight workouts. (I'd like to step up to heavier weight-lifting in an actual gym, but that might have to wait until I pay off some loans.) I've lost about 25 pounds in the last 15 months via slight calorie restriction (cutting by 250/day) and gradually increasing my exercise. I'm OK with the slow loss (I have some complicating chronic illnesses), but eventually I'd like to bring my BMI and waist circumference down to the recommended level to reduce my cardiovascular disease risk. I'd also like to increase my upper body and core strength, and hopefully ultimately join a pool and begin swimming regularly (again, once some loans get paid off)
I guess my question is, has anyone else been successful with long-term weight loss exercising only 4 times a week? Is it feasible to just keep increasing my workout times on those four days for now, or should I try to get a fifth workout in during the week?
Thanks for your thoughts!

Weight loss comes from a calorie deficit. You can achieve weight loss with no workouts a week, as long as you eat at a deficit. If you're losing now, you're fine to keep just your 4 workouts. If you want to add in another day, then do that. Ultimately, do what you can maintain for the long haul.0

Thank you
4 x a week is fine.
I would recommend at least 2 days are doing full body resistance training.
Look into You Are Your Own Gym or Convict Conditioning - they are body weight routines that incorporate progression - which is important as you should be providing additional stimulus to maintain as much of your muscle mass as possible (plus get stronger).
I probably averaged about 4 days a week (maybe only 3) exercising when losing my weight. If you need the additional calorie burn, then add the additional workout - but it is not necessary at all.0 -
Fabulous, thank you so much! I have been thinking about You Are Your Own Gym- I will definitely look into it now!0
