After 56 years of distance running, the pain in my left leg, resulted in a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. After an x-ray by his own staff he informed me that work related injury I sustained thirty years ago, is the cause of my present disability. It cannot be repaired. He gave me a series of physical therapy exercise and suggested I give up distance running and karate. He also put me on an anti-inflammatory med.
This all worked. I can now walk with extreme pain and my left foot, knee and leg sort of looks like my right. I am now hiking in the woods using trekking poles with my dogs instead of running with them. They think its OK. I guess I am still getting my mileage but it takes a lot longer and my running and karate peers are really pissed as is my wife and the neighors kids.
