Marking my place. My gym workouts are done for the week, so my fingers are crossed for good weather to run. Will check in later.0

Welcome back, Marla.
Hope the weather is good for you, Sherry.
Hope everyone else is doing well.
I went to a metobolic conditioning class last night. Ran to and from it. Really feeling it today! This fitness studio changes the exercises done in the classes and my trainer session once a month, usually in the middle of the month. So after the first week I usually know what we're going to be doing in all my sessions. They do sometimes get tweaked, but by and large, remain the same. I love this month! I did not love last month! The mid-August to mid-September exercises were not as fun to do and yet I don't know that I got more benefit from them as compared to previous and the current months. This month I actually feel like I pushed myself, even more than the month before, yet while doing the exercises I didn't dislike them. Felt tired and wanted to stop and/or felt like my muscles could only lift the dumbell, kettleball, or myself one more time before they just couldn't do it any more. Those were true both Tuesday and Thursday, but the "I'm going to hurt myself" or "I really hate this" feeling was not there which had been there last month. Although I didn't actually hurt myself. Maybe because I begged my trainer to reduce my reps and he agreed to it. I am so so glad that this month will be fun!
Don't know what I'm going to do tonight. No classes, so take a walk with the dogs, go for a run, or ride my bike.0 -
Going to do a mini hike before work today, kind of a close trail that goes up and down for a hour.
Came home and had a bunch of wine last night. Hard work day.
I just weighed, gained 2 lbs on trip and yesterday....sigh...
Today's post fits be better than yesterday!0 -
Donna, I love that feeling of pushing to the last possible rep, but without feeling endangered or loathful of the exercise. Its empowering feeling.
So I ran today from the tutor to the beach. It was awful. My legs are killing me. My achilles and calves and the arch of my feet are just really giving me problems (both legs now). They always did (mainly just one leg), but usually it was much more towards the end of a run. Today it was from the very beginning. I stopped to stretch often, but it did no good. I took time to stretch good at the beach before returning. I only made it halfway back and had to resort to walking. My calves are killing me. sigh. BUT, at least my CV adaptation seems to be coming along. I wasn't huffing and puffing, and my heart wasn't beating out of my chest. So, now if I can just get my legs to cooperate, I'll be back in the game! I still have another run to get either tomorrow or Sunday. Hoping my legs recover tonight.
TGIF everybody!!!!!
eta: cross posted...Have a great hike Marla! Don't worry about the 2 pounds. I doubt it's pure fat. Maybe alot of water retention. Just keep moving forward. :-)0 -
My day started out great. Actually slept really well last night (after 17 consecutive nights of horrible sleep). Got up early for a session with my trainer - he had me use the rowing machine & do some shoulder exercises with resistance bands to warm up, then we did shoulders/arms & low back. Showered at the gym, had a chiropractor appointment, and came to work. After work I'm going to go swimming at a fitness center not far from my office.
I got a wrap & sweet potato fries for lunch (I was so hungry!) and then got sleepy, and I am feeling a little edgy this afternoon, but I suspect once the workday is over and I can start the weekend I'll cheer right back up.
My trainer has decided he's going to have a "move of the week" that's something designed to be harder, and he's going to have all of his clients do it at some point during the week. Last night he tells me this and shows me the move for this week, which for me doesn't turn out to be very hard. You start in superman position (on your stomach with hands & feet up in the air), roll over one way into V sit (without touching the ground with your hands or feet), roll back into Superman, roll the other way into V sit, etc. Back and forth 10-15 times with just a quick pause in each position so you're not using momentum to switch positions. The third set it occurs to me I've done a lot of them (I wasn't counting) and eventually I hit the ground with one hand as I'm rolling over, so I stop and ask how many of these we're doing. He starts laughing and says "You're finally tired. You've really got a strong core." I think he just let me keep going until I wore out. Maybe that's why I finally slept last night? :-)0
