Isn't that the truth!
I had a long, exhausting day yesterday - left the house at 6:00 am and didn't get back until 9:30 pm. I slept hard and woke up early. It's supposed to be a beautiful day (79F / 26C and sunny). Except for my workout it's going to be an at-home day. First step is to get some laundry started so I can hang it out on the line. It's just after 6:30 and it's still really dark out! I miss the early sunrise & late sunset already, and it's just going to keep getting worse.
For my long workout this weekend my trainer assigned me a duathlon. He had me do this once before but he bumped up the distances to a 5K run, 20 mile (32K) bike, 5K run (last time was 2 miles / 10-15 miles / 2 miles). There's a duathlon in Minneapolis that has 5K / 15.9 mile / 5K so maybe next year I can do that. I'm still working on my swimming but I'm thinking I'd like to try a duathlon before a triathlon just to get a feel for the multi-sport race format. Also there's a far smaller chance of drowning in a duathlon. (Unless I bike into a river.)0 -
Funny Laura we live across the country and lately have same weather!
We have pure sun 77 high today. It's state autumn festival parade here today, so the weather is perfect. School bands come from all over the state and some from Canada and lots of floats. Its a fun day.
I ended up walking to town and back instead of treadmill later in afternoon as rain stopped. I only live about 1 1/2 miles to town so that was 3 miles but on top of hill so at least had some up!
More walking today as parking will be a nightmare.0 -
Hi! Nice FRESH Autumn-feeling day here. Unfortunately I've spent it at home. Out to the pharmacy for supplements in the morning and then back home to get to feeling better. I have a playdate tomorrow morning and I don't want to be feeling poorly, so I gave myself today to get better. So far so good on 2 out of 3 of my recent problems.
My calories are completely blown this week, as is my total lack of cardio. Blew it on steps these last couple days too. But I ~have~ been sick, and so far getting some rest has helped.
Have a good one!0 -
Just finished my workout. I started out believing I could do it but boy that faith was shaken in the end. This was last weekend's long run, which was my longest run in 2 months, with a 90 minute bike ride thrown in the middle for extra credit.
The initial run felt good, as did the start of the bike ride. By 8 miles into the bike ride I was already getting tired. At 17 miles into the bike ride my legs were burning, and I was wondering how I was going to bike the final 3 miles much less hop off the bike and run another 3 miles. About 2 miles into the final run I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be able to keep going, but a voice in my head said "Jason thinks you can do this, so you can do this. Keep going." I finished, but it was close.
5K #1 - 35:02
20 mile bike ride - 1:27:59
5K #2 - 33:17
Cool-down walk - 11 minutes0 -
FromHereOnOut: Hope you feel better soon!
Low 60s with scattered rain here,! We had a beautiful and very thunderous light show last night. This is my favorite time of the year, I am a little sad that by Monday it will be clearing up and going back to the mid 70s. We need the rain so badly for the 97,000 acre fire burning near by.
Today is a catch up day for me, catch up on all my chores and everything that I wanted to get done during the week but didn't have the time to dive into a huge project. Oh and Spa day with my four little ones (painting nails and pampering the kiddos, trying new hair styles) in the comfort of our PJs.
I should probably get started, the laundry won't wash itself.
Have a great day everyone!0 -
Had a busy morning today. I had thought, until yesterday afternoon, that Colin's nosework test was today. It's Sunday. So my plan of a bike ride and small run on Friday and then a long run on Sunday wasn't going to work. I decided on a longer bike ride on Friday and then my long run on Saturday morning (today). Well I took off on my bike; it was just back from the bike shop where it got a new front and rear light combo and had it's tires inflated. Fells tried to leave with me as I was dressed as I would be for a run and he didn't want to miss out on a run. He had a really sad face when I took the bike and left him home. I got about a mile from home when I realized that I had forgotten my bike helmet. Since it was during the day on a weekday and not summer, they were a lot less people, bikes, etc on the trail. I decided to just bike my four mile running route and home again. I didn't want to go home and explain to Fells that I still wasn't bringing him, but I also didn't want to do a long ride without a helmet. So no long bike ride. I didn't want to run on Friday evening and then do a long run on Saturday morning. So that's all I did.
This morning I changed my mind about doing a real long run as I wanted to go to the fitness class at 9 am. So my planned 10+ run went to a 7 mile run with Fells. Then I biked the 1.5 miles to the fitness class. The fitness class was hard after the run and biking! I was doing fine until they realized that they had finished the planned exercises, yet it was too early to start the stretches to end the class. They decided to do 5 minutes of jump rope. I couldn't imagine jumping rope at that moment and not falling on my face. My legs were like lead! So I just said I needed to go and biked home again.
I had promised to spend time with my mother this weekend and it's halfway between my house and the nosework trial tomorrow. So after I got home and showered I headed to New Jersey. Tomorrow I'll be in northeastern Pennsylvania and see how Colin does in nosework. I won't be home until late. I really hope that I can get some exercise in tomorrow. Sometimes we do a lot of walking, but sometimes we're restricted to a really small area all day (with lots of food). I hope that it ends up more of the first and less of the second.
Sherry, hope you get over whatever it is that's affecting you and that your ankle improves. I know how frustrating it is not to run, especially when you want to eat.
Marla, I hope you enjoyed the fair and the beautiful fall day.
Great run/bike/run today, Laura! Glad that you completed such a challenging workout! Nice times with negative splits, too!
Sorry about the fire, Ann. Marla's been dealing with one for quite a while, too. Hope that everything is caught up now!0
