Hi, I'm Wendy. I am in the process to get vsg. Hoping to have it in January 2015. Not gonna lie, I'm a little scared. I know this is thecorrect path for me. Having hard time in these pre-op waiting months. Trying to lose some weight on my own, but struggling. Mfp helps, but have to do a better job on every day use. Cravings are bad for me, I give in and then I feel like a failure. I never feel full and I have the capacity to eat a lot, so that's where the hard part is. Just hoping it will get easier after surgery. Hoping the support and understanding of those who are going or have gone thru this will help me stay strong!

Have you started seeing your nutritionist yet? That was a huge help in finding ways to be satisfied with food that was good for me. Seeing a therapist has also helped, given that a large portion of my weight stems from emotional eating of one type or another.

Just met with nutritionist, so got some ideas there. Not been to psychiatrist yet, but have appt. I think so much of this is mental....get out of bad habits...learn when I am actually hungry vs other reasons. Just have to put this new lifestyle to the top of my priorities. No more excuses and be conscious of choices. I really am trying and have started to lose. Just keep going I guess:-)

I second what Phil said about therapy. I saw my therapist for a year before I even started the process of WLS. Addressing any emotional issues and learning how to change habits before surgery is SO beneficial. Trying to change those things AND learn a new normal after surgery can be a lot. Don't aim for perfection, none of us can ever achieve that, but aim to improve a little every day. You can totally do this!
