Testing site on the body

Does it make a difference where you test it? Are the fingers the most accurate location from where to test?

For those that test daily or multiple times a day, have you tested on alternate locations and does that change the reading for you?

Thanks.

  • There's a good article here: http://www.diabetesselfmanagement.com/Articles/Diabetes-Definitions/alternate_site_testing/ that talks about alternate site blood glucose testing. You'll want to talk with your physician/diabetes educator and make sure your meter is one that's approved for alternate site testing. ~Lynn /Glucerna

^this. Unfortunately, AST doesn't seem to work for some. I tried it on my arm as my Mom/diabetes educator mentioned, thinking it would hurt less, got nothing but GREAT pain and a scar. After reading the appropriate page of the manual, I was shocked to see that I would have to order a whole nother cap-thingy. Not only that, but said manual says that this only works on the palm, which a nurse once told me hurts aheckuvalot! I hope this helps. Be careful, booksandbeaches!
