Hello everyone. I've been vegan for a year or so after being vegetarian for 30 years (with a couple of blips when I had my sons ) Back on mfp after a long and fattening absence. Happy to add veggie/ vegan friends. Most of the friends I had the first time around have not logged on for years, like me! I'm a teacher and live in England.0

Hi, I'm Emily. I've been vegan for 8 years, vegetarian before that for 3 years. I just had a baby in March, and while I envisioned myself being a divine, raw foods, hippy pregnant goddess, I became mostly a junk food vegan because, well, cravings. Trying to transition back to a more "whole foods plant based" type of diet.2

Hello! I am Cathy and have dabbled with vegan eating in the past and been vegan off and on. I live in the Middle East and do find it a challenge to find convenience foods so am looking at YouTube videos in order to make what I need. I signed up for Veganuary and 21 Day Kickstart to begin January 1 and look forward to having this group to support me as I move forward.1

Hi there...
I've been vegan for 4.5 years now and was vegetarian for 17 years before that. Becoming vegan was the best decision I ever (finally) made! I'd be happy to have some MFP vegan friends.0 -

I will be returning to a vegetarian (w little dairy & eggs) that I had while I was in college. My Daughter is advocating for me to go vegan. I told her I need two months to make my current changes stick, then by July I can do the rest of the Summer as a vegan and evaluate how it all has settled in September.
I have been a whole foods, slow foods, mostly organic omnivore since 1980s. I have been tweaking my basic approach over the years. One good tweak for me is to get most of my carbs from legumes-pulses/greens/tubers/vegetables and to limit grain carbs.
A 15mos pescatarian-ovo-dairy keto diet has concluded, and I am labelling keto not suitable for me. My kidneys were not happy with that much saturated fat.
A Friend lent me her book, How Not to Die, and now I am approaching a diet much like my vegan Daughter. My total fat targets have dropped from 50% with saturated fats in the range of 40g/day, to 25% with saturated fats down to 15g, then 12g/day, and now 9g/day. To do this I must eliminates all flesh and restrict ovo-dairy to a point whether I want coconut today or that smear of goat cheese.
I have been eating greens daily, but this book also advocates for daily legumes & pulses. I will be working on making legumes & pulses a daily habit too, and restore my daily fruit.

Hello! I've been eating vegan for almost 2 years. I watched "What the Health?" and switched to vegan eating overnight. I did so because I was disgusted but also because my Mom died at age 54 from complication of diabetes.
Diabetes has taken 4 grandparents lives, my Mom's, and I have several family member who are diabetic. I do not want to be next!! I have gained 20 lbs. in the last few months (hello vegan junk food!) so I'm here to lose that and anything else that happens.1 -
Hi, I have been vegan for 2.5 years and vegetarian for most of my life before that. I celebrated (?) my 44th birthday yesterday and thought today would be an apt day to start MFP again as I have around 3 stone to loose! Wish me luck!0

Hi! I'm in Chicagoland and experimenting with veganism. I would like to go vegan 4-5 days a week, starting this month with 2 days a week. Motivations are health, environment, and my secular Buddhist beliefs of non-harm to our fellow organisms.0

Hi! I've been vegan for a little over a year. I struggle with getting enough protein and balanced nutrition on a daily basis. I am also looking to lose about 25 pounds. I am hoping by joining this group that i will get ideas from all of you and share some of mine. I am interested in easy, low fat, healthy recipes and tips.
I'm looking forward to learning more about you all and your vegan ideas!

Hi! My name is Sable. I'm new to this. My family physician recommended that I try to become vegan or eat vegan most of the time to achieve the health goals that I want. I've looked into how great this lifestyle can impact health. I'm excited to learn more!2

Hi, I'm Noel. I've been on and off the vegan wagon for a solid decade. The animals, the environment, the food, and the health benefits are always spot on. The social aspects have always been my downfall. I recently developed gout and switching to a vegan diet fixes the gout without medication (all high purine foods are animal-based other that beer/brewer's yeast). I'm also a crossfitter and pregnant, further twisting the plot. I could really use some support/friends and tips on how to be a joyful vegan as opposed to a bitter, miserable, eye-rolling vegan who wants to lite things on fire at the mention of bacon jokes or "you can just get a salad" social situations.2

Hi everyone. I'm a somewhat new vegan - started January 2019. I've also struggled a bit with gout, which helped me realize how easy it really was to go vegetarian. A year later I decided to just make the leap and go vegan since it's something I've really wanted to do for a long time. For the animals, the environment, and better health. At this point, the only truly tough times I have are when people around me are eating pizza1

Hello! I'm a kind of new vegan. I was born vegetarian and since i was around 12 years old i wanted to be a vegan. So now, 3 years later I've decided to go full vegan no turning back. I wanted to go vegan mostly because i hate animal cruelty and the meat- and dairy industry. The second reason is to feel better. Since I've gone vegan, I feel so much better. When I eat dairy products I just feel so yucky in some way. So now I've been vegan for about 1 month and I'm never going back.
Go vegan! ✌🏻🌱2 -
Hi! I'm Erin. I have been a vegan for 12 years. I am an ethical vegan. I am also a dynamite vegan cook and baker. I am overweight and I need to get back to a healthier version of my diet. Looking forward to meeting you!1

Hi everyone! I have been eating plant based for around 3 weeks now. My husband and one of my sons are joining me which is great, as I don't think I could do it without them. It definitely helps that my husband is keen to do the same ! We saw the Gamechangers film, then went on the watch Forks over knives, What the health, and others... My hubby and I have weight to lose too. We have both been feeling fantastic since we started eating plant based. As someone else has said, whilst we are trying to eat vegan, we can't yet call ourselves vegan because we have leather shoes and bags, woollen jumpers etc. I've joined this group to get some/give some support. A few years back I lost 50 lbs on MFP. Unfortunately, for health reasons and because of bad diet I have regained some of the weight back. On the way down again now though and feeling positive!!1

Hi - I switched to WFPB in April of 2018 and had some success initially, but more and more I find myself falling back into “junk food vegan” mode, and allowing more oil and dairy to creep in to my diet. I have gained back the 25 lbs I lost last yr and am hoping to become inspired again to truly follow the WFPB WOE. I’m considering intermittent fasting also since I’ve had some success with last in the past.1

Hi, everyone! I've been whole foods, plant-based for about six months now and I'm loving every single second of it! I was plagued by fatigue, IBS, chronic headaches, and excruciating menstrual cramps before, but all that has disappeared since I began eating so clean. Also, I was really tired of being a hypocrite--saying I was an animal lover while also still consuming them and contributing to their massive suffering. I'm so excited to be here!0

Hello and Happy New Year! Have been off-and-on vegan/vegetarian for about a year and a half. As of right now I'd say I'm 90% compliant with a vegetarian diet. Looking forward to learning from this group and adding structure to my diet so that I can go 100% vegan. My goals are better health and fitness, kindness to animals and doing my part to be nice to the planet.0
