I just use the recipe that is on the back of the French's fried onions can. It is still low cal. Less that 200 calories a serving. 2 cans, or 1 big can of the french style green beans, 1 can of cream of mushroom, 1/4 c of milk, 1 small bag of pecan pieces or almond slivers, pepper, and a small can of french fried onions. I think you bake at 350 for about 30 mins, then put the fried onions on top the last 5 minutes. But like I said, the recipe I have always used is on the back of the brand French's fried onions cans :-) I just add nuts!

I wonder if you used fresh green beans, or frozen....would you have to cook them first?

I would, yes. I made it once with fresh green beans last year. Didn't turn out so well, probably because it was my first time making fresh green beans and I didn't know what the crap I was doing ;-) Would have been better if I had cooked them longer :-) But yeah, I would cook them first, as well as frozen. This is the only recipe I use canned anything for.

PUmpkin Loaf ( like a pumpkin roll)

    1 cup canned pumpkin
1 cup and 2 tbsp sugar _ DIVIDED meaning keep the 2 tbsp seperate.
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    4 egg whited - DIVIDED
    1/2 cup milk _ I use 2 %
    1/4 cup canola oil
    2 cups flour
    2 1/2 tsp BAKING POWDER
    2 tsp pumpkin pie spice _ i like a little extra !
    1/4 tsp salt
1 pkg 8 oz cream cheese _ softened

    Heat oven to 350

MIX ~ Pumpkin, 1 CUP SUGAR, brown sugar, 3 egg whites, milk, oil in a large bowl then add flour, BAKING powder, spices and salt stir until moist - keep seperate.

MIX ~ Cream cheese 2 tbsp sugar 1 egg white with a whisk until smooth

NOW YOU layer...Pur half of the pumpkin mix in a 9 X 5 NONSTICK loaf pan sprayed with cooking spray. then pur your cream cheese mixture on that and layer again with the remaining pumpkin mix.

BAKE for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean. loosen the sides of the bread and let it cool for about 10 mins before removing from pan.

DELISH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also add crushed pecans to my cream cheese mix but thats up to you !~

Best way ever to de-fat gravy! This is more a technique/tip than a recipe. :)

You can make a virtually fat-free gravy (or decide just how much fat you want) by using one of these tools that pours off the broth from the bottom of the pitcher. Getting one with a strainer-lid is so helpful.

    - Pour the drippings into the separator and let it sit a few minutes. The fat will rise to the top.
    - Mix cornstarch and cold water (or flour and water - or whatever you like to use for gravy) in a dish
    - Pour the broth-part (no fat) into a pan on the stove and heat until simmering.
    - Stir up the cornstarch/flour mixture and pour some into the simmering broth
    - Stir and add more starch until it's the texture you want.
    - Season as needed.

Not totally a "holiday" recipe...but I notice Christmas time is when people seem to drink it the most. Got this idea from a friend, though I was a little skeptical. It turned out pretty good. Better tasting than the "light" hot cocoa I bought from the store that is 100 calories (Swiss brand w/ marshmallows)

    Hot Cocoa

    IMG_9968.jpg?t=1321457488

Serving 1 Cup (with out marshmallows)
    Calories: 15 Fat: 0 Sodium: 50 Carbs: 4 Fiber: 1 Sugar: 0 Protein: 0

(20 Marshmallows is about 10 grams...or .3 a serving of Kraft mini marshmallows...so if you like them on top add 35 calories..for a total of 50 calories)

    1 Cup Water
2 tbsp (32 grams) sugar free chocolate syrup - I used the Walmart brand
    20 mini marshmallows

Directions: Put chocolate into your mug, top with 1 cup water. Microwave for 1 minute. Then Stir. Add Marshmallows to the top if you want to.
