Need advice for my husband

ok he doesn't know I'm asking this but here goes.
He's in pretty good shape but has lost some muscle definition over time (since we met). I know he doesn't like it and wants it to change. We have a membership to the same gym and he's gone maybe 4 times in 2 years lmao
Anyways I asked him why he doesn't go and he says it might make him too sore for his job the next day. He has a physical job (designs, builds and installs cabinetry/bars/kitchens) that requires lifting, pushing wood through machines, etc.
Do you guys have any advice I can pass on to him? I don't have this problem because I sit at a desk all day. Are there supplements that would help with the soreness he might get? Or is there a way to ease in to lifting so this doesn't happen to him?

I notice creatine helps reduce recovery and soreness duration. If he trains hard he will be sore, no doubt about it. But a good thing is, if he trains and gets fitter, the physical work at his job will be easier for him and he won't be as fatigued at the end of the work day.0

I agree.
Coming from nothing to anything is going to create DOMS and the first time will be bad but as you're body gets used to it you don't seem to get as sore anymore and still make PR's and get stronger. Short term pain for long term gain basically.
I'd recommend a full body workout 3x a week. The first week will be tough but start very light and that should help. Unfortunately, most guys have large egos and don't want to start light so this could hinder the DOMS reduction theory.0 -
Aside of him being sore,if he has a physical demanding job then perhaps its part body fat % if he has gained fat over the years muscle will lose its definition, perhaps starting with eating healthier ,more cardio, and when he lifts some whey or whey isolate protein after workouts will help, but there also could just be an excuse being used to avoid the gym.0
