Hi there, I'll be teaching a large group ex class at the gym in 1.5. It's kickboxing bootcamp with heavy bags. I'm so bored with my warm up, so any variety would be greatly appreciated. It needs to be about 7-15 min rather high intensity (so some of the people that are real bad leave, hehe) body weight only or with dumbells and get hr up before we use the bags.
Usually, i do:
3 min jump rope - this is where I explain the rules (no hitting the aerobic instructor!!)
10 push ups
8 sets 8 mountainclimbers 2 push ups (floor)
20 push ups

repeat 3 min jump rope
2 x 16 burpees (modified) with an 180 turn left and right/ or an 8 count with a push up
Sometimes, I switch and do p90x front and lateral raises with medium dumbels 3 sets x 16 reps in addition to the burpees

my other warm up won't work if I have 40 + people in class which is box jog different combinations, and shuffel jabs and stuff like that (the studio is too small to fit everybody in a row). The studio is = 1/2 basketball court

Then I proceed to stretch and then bag work 2-3 min combinations.
Thanks in advance!!

Thanks a LOT for ALL your replies. Class is over, and I did a little change up the routine. Anyway, I still greatly appreciate ANY response, friends!!

Sorry, I've been on the road today, not near my comp. Your warmup already looks intense. Heck, that would be a great workout for many people I know.

I agree with this! I wish you taught some of the classes at my gym!

Hey, if it's good for anything, feel free to use my routine. You can do it on your own, too and you only need a jump rope and perhaps 2 medium size dumbells (really minimal space needed).

This truly is a great warm-up. My buddy owns an MMA gym, he was a professional boxer and fought for Oscar Dela Hoya. His conditioning classes utilizing pretty much this warm-up routine. He does it back to back several rounds for about 30-40 mins, then goes into technical training.

I used to practice 2 years of amateur box training, that's where I took part of the warm up and the bag work, which I modified accoirding to my backgroud. I do 2-3 min (which is competition rounds either boxing or kickboxing) I did competitive taekwon-do and kickboxing for 14 years in Germany and Europe, until I started with the aerobics. So I use a lot of it. It's an awesome work out and makes abs totally cut..
