Someone please assure me that week 3 isn't as bad as I think it's going to be. That three minutes is just crazy to me!

It won't be as bad as you think. You would be amazed at what your body is capable of! How fast do you normally run? If you are still worried about it, just slow down your pace a little on the first day. Time is more important than the speed. You can increase your speed a little on the next run, and be back up to normal pace on the third.

This is meant to encourage, and not scare...

The first three minutes is *STILL* the hardest for me emotionally, and I can run for an hour straight. It's during that time that the little voice in my head keeps saying, "Just quit... just quit... just quit..." It takes me just over three minutes to get into my stride and then I'm golden.

Don't listen to that little voice. You CAN do this. And once you do those first three minutes, you can do ANY distance.

Think of it as dancing. You can dance for a full three minute song, right? Then you can run for a full three minute song, too.

Its not as bad as you think - I actually thought it was easier than week 2. Just take it nice and slow.

OMG, I thought I was the only one like that! Good to know I'm not alone!

I agree with tameko, I think week 3 was much easier than week 2.

I feel like my breaking point is going to be the 5 minute run in week 4. :( But you guys are right, we CAN do it! Just zone out and keep putting one foot in front of the other!

You can do anything you set your mind to do.Take it at a slower pace, you can work on speed at a later time.Work on getting through the entire program and the speed will come as you run more.

Thanks guys. I needed to know that!!!

I typically run pretty slow anyway, because I have Reynauld's (Sp?) syndrome, and it decreases blood flow to my fingers when I get cold. This turn my fingers blue and is quite painful. So I can't jog outside and I broke my treadmill the first week of C25k, lol! It was old, I swear it's not cuz I'm so big, though I am! So now I've created a loop in my house that I do. I can't get my speed up very high, but I do keep at it.

I'll see how tomorrow goes and I'll let you know!

Be careful with that. Turning a lot can cause stress on the knees.

I feel the same! I use the iphone app. Once I start, I just listen for the chime and don't watch the clock at all. I didn't even know the three minute run was coming in week 3. That keeps me from telling myself that I can't do it!

I feel like if I can make it through this next week, I'll be able to stick with it.

Just stopping in to say thanks for the thread and the replies from everyone.

I found the thread a last week, while I was still in the middle of W2. Completed W3D1 tonight, and as everyone said, the 3 minutes wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. The second 3 minute portion kicked my butt, but I managed to make it through and feel great about it now.
