Survive the Holidays Without Gaining Weight
From Jennifer R. Scott, About.com Guide December 5, 2006
.
This time of year, it's much easier to worry about trimming the tree than trimming your waistline. Instead of focusing on losing weight right now, focus on weight maintenance. You'll be less stressed and it's far more realistic.
Keep these pointers in mind:
•Keep portion sizes in check.
•Continue to include fruits, veggies, and whole grains in your diet as often as possible.
•Eat regularly -- at least every 4-5 hours -- to keep from getting too hungry and over-eating.
•Continue to use a food diary and easily track your calories with calorie-count.com.
•Minimize the variety of foods you eat at family celebrations or parties.
•Bring and help prepare foods at family get-togethers so you can assure healthy options are available
