Since i talked about the flipside yesterday I will talk about the positives. I am so glad for the opportunity of returning to school to fulfill my life's dream without being ashamed of being an older student. I went to nursing school at age 45 & not one day i felt like i was out of place, I now look forward to start grad school in January. I truly believe the opportunities are here & there's no reason to be worthless. What are your views??????????

I am in the medical field as well. I an an Xray Technologist, trained in Jamaica. There are a vast variety of opportunities in my field here in Canada that dont even exist in Ja. Post graduate studies are forever ongoing regardless of ones age. As a matter of fact it is a must.
I am glad for the chance to go to the full extent of what I was called to do.

Yes, there are some great opportunities here if you want them. I can never understand why some people (whether those born here or immigrants) have done nothing with their lives. Though I miss life in Jamaica, family and friends, I truly believe making the decision to come to the UK for studies and staying on to work was one of the best decisions I made. I believe opportunities are also available in Jamaica but I often feel it's more about who you know and not your actual qualification that gets you places. Here I feel it is the qualification that matters and once you have that, you will succeed.

As a keen traveller, migration has also open my eyes to the rest of the world and made me hungry to explore. This is something I didn't think I would have even considered or be able to do if I was still living in Jamaica.
