Wide-grip deadlift from box

I'm in stage 4 and I'll do workout B for the first time tomorrow. It's the same grid as stage 2's workout B so the wide-grip deadlift from box exercise is back. EEEK!

I tried to do the exercise as described when I was in stage 2 but I gave up and did conventional deadlifts instead. My problem was I couldn't "roll the barbell up to your toes." I tried and it crushed my damn toes! It hurt like hell! The load was 105 lbs. I was using the exact same setup as shown in the book..a step platform with 1 riser on each end. If I remember correctly, the wide grip also felt weird. I might attempt it from the box again but this time follow the "alternative setup" suggestion.

What has been your experience with this exercise? Any trouble? Any modification? Tips? Thank you ladies!

What's your load now? If it's up to 135 now then you can do the olympic bar plus two 45 pound weights giving you more clearance.

I don't hate it, but I like the regular DL much better. I put 2 45s on each side and do the step with one riser and there is a little room between the bar and my toes-I wear Converse for lifting. I think you can put something-plates or risers for the step on each side of the step and put the bar with the plates on them, so the bar is a bit higher. Good luck!
I hate the front squat/push press in stage 2-just finish with this one and not looking forward to it again.
