Girls at Goal! (or close)

I have a question.

I'm not at goal and I'm not near it but I'm trying to make myself goals. I work better when I feel like I am losing according to plan. So far I've met the ones I've set but I'm getting concerned that I may have been overly optimistic with my "closer to goal" goals.

At what point did you notice you were no longer losing 1lb a week. How close were you to your goal when you noticed that your weight loss was tapering off?

I'm currently 133lbs. I was thinking that once I got to 120, it would become harder to lose. My goal is 114. Maybe it becomes harder during the last ten pounds? And I should readjust for that and start counting from 124 as losing 2lbs a month instead of four?

Did you find that you had to increase your exercise to keep the scale moving? Did you eat more AND exercise more?

I'd love to know what you think/experienced!

Hi! It's been my experience that I can best maintain steady weight loss when I'm planning for a 1/2 lb weight loss per week. Sometimes it doesn't show up on the scale every week, but when I'm tracking intake and exercising this has been my experience (when I average the loss looking back). I lost 19/20 lbs a few years ago and it took me 5 months, but the gradual loss suited me better. It was only in the last few months of this year that I regained 7 of those pounds. I let stress take over, nearly stopped exercising and started snacking at night!!

So, back on track. I could try for more loss per week, but I'm happier with slower results when I can eat pretty normally and still splurge occasionally.

    Hello my love!!

Not at goal yet, but I was...once. It all slowed right down for me last time at about a stone (14lbs). That finale last stone was gruelling to say the least but I didn't adjust anything at all, it just went slower to about 1/2 lb a week/fortnight.

The reason I adjusted nothing was two-fold. For one thing...I was still losing, just much slower and the second reason was...If I up my exercise and/or reduce food even further...would I keep it up?

See, imo that's the problem, you want to make changes that stick, not do major alterations that just won't last...all the weight that was lost in the last little sprint to goal would come back on once you return to 'normal' unless it is part of your lifestyle to work out a lot.

I'm interested to see what others have to say on this, as this week I've had my first weight increase :-/ I've not had a lot of weight to lose overall and now I'm aiming to shed under a stone

I'm hoping that the weight gain this week is just a blip from overindulging the last few weekends even though I'm trying to maintain my exercise regime. The most I've lost so far per week was 2lbs, usually it's only the one or less. If I can maintain a loss of a half a pound every week or so I'll be happy.......maybe I should go to weighing every couple of weeks instead of weekly?

Thanks, ladies! I do think I will increase my calories to the half a pound loss mark as soon as I notice im not losing any more. Im currently at a .7 loss so i think that only will give me an extra 90 calories.

I am making sure to keep my workouts varied and will continue to do so in hopes that it will help keep the losses coming.

Im just so impatient! I want the months to fly by so that I can know all the answers already tothe questions I have! :)

I'm very close to my goal now and these last 10 or so have taken me about 4-6 months to lose. I keep losing a little, gaining a little back, losing again... it's just a cycle which I see continuing once I hit maintenence as well. I just last week finally gave myself about 100 more calories per day to push me a little closer to maintenence intake. So far it's working, I had a nice loss today from last week!!!

I have always been scared to get too comfortable at my weight because I don't want to gain everything back, but I finally feel like I have a handle on what I can and can't handle and how hard I have to work to get there. I know I can do this for the rest of my life.... I'm sure of it for the first time in 39 years!!!!! Best part, I'm an athlete now, so I can treat myself and work it off and still maintain!!!! Yay for muscles!!!!

I am about 16 lbs away from my goal weight of 130 but I haven't been tracking my calories as much as I used to. I definitely am having a hard time getting to even "healthy BMI" which is 10 lbs from now. Love to hear the tips!
