Anyone around here do box jumps to improve your speed/explosiveness?

Not directly bodybuilding related, but I know this is a pretty open group.

Yes, I do them every so often as a measuring stick. The higher I can jump the higher strength to weight ratio in my lower body. I also do it to test lower body endurance.

Any progression you look for in em? or do you just build up to a "max" more or less?

I just started doing em and I guess I'm just curious how other people structure their box work.

I track both hieght and reps. I generally move the height up if I can do it 10 times no problem for measuring my max just so I don't try something too high and turn or brake an ankle or something. Otherwise also track max reps at a lower height and shoot for 15-20.

I do them, but with a barbell. I don't really track progression, just something I do once in awhile.

I mainly do cleans for explosiveness.

Nice. I haven't gone over 5 in a set. And if it's over 36" I just treat them as singles.
    Thanks.

Cleans are awesome(but I'm not awesome at them. I think I've only cleaned around 150 or so). I do them to warm up for my deads.

I like the power clean also. A good exercise for increasing pulling power and development of explosive-strength. OL high-pulls are another. I have found that what Doug Hepburn says about the high-pull holds true in my case. That 1-2 reps are most effective. I prefer quality over quantity with those types of lifts.

I also incorporate plyometrics such as box jumps and other movements. One of my favorites is one that Louie Simmons does which is a seated squat jump with weight..Which brings in the specificity principle as it is a more pulling/squat specific plyometrics.

I just do explosive vertical jumps. Don't have boxes to jump on unfortunately. I usually do these after a squat set. Read somewhere that it was good to do some explosive stuff after the heavy stuff. Could be BS though haha

I implement them when I do conditioning training along with burpees, mountain climbers, jump tucks and plyometrics.

If at the end of my workout I don't feel like my legs were worked enough, I'll go do 3 sets of 10 on the tallest box.

i only use them in conditioning workouts also.
usually at the park. up on a raised garden bed, and a retaining wall, haha/ the retaining wall is 1.05 m high.
so whats that over 40 inches or something. works the legs nice and proper. Usually superset with sprints. So sprint to the wall, then jump on it 10 times, sprint back.

legs are like jelly on the return. haha.

I do box jumps and variations. I do them as a 3rd set of my triple sets. ie.. to keep my hr up while do a light legs (off heavy leg days).

I started with jumping up on the bench press x 10. Then the gym put an actual box jump box in so I used that. It's about 4-5" higher than the bench press bench. Then I started to jump OVER the bench press bench. I want to be able to jump over the box jump box. But sort of scared of crash and burning in front of everyone .
